Hello,

I have been told that Litsea will help make the scent of citrus eo's last

longer. Can anyone tell me what % of Litsea should be added to a cp soap based

on the total eo added? If I use this with lime or sweet orange eo will it

change the scent? I have made some soap with the orange, lime, and lemon eo and

it doesn't seem to smell for very long. I need to find something to make the

scent stay around. If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be interested in

those too.

Thanks very much,

Chris

I use powdered orange peel in my Ginger Orange (EO blend of mine)

soap--the color comes out in the soap and the scent sticks like glue.

Hi Serra,

Do you think it is the orange peel that makes it stick? Have you tried to

use your custom scent without the peel? If it is the peel, I could easily

add some of the fruit's peel to each of my citrus soaps. I have a coffee

grinder I could grind the dried peels in. I think that would work great.

Thanks very much,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Usually if I use Litsea I do a 70/30 blend - citrus oils to Litsea.

It'll change the scent of the citrus oil a little bit, but not enough to

make your soap smell yucky or anything <grinz>.

Other things you can do is use some base oils in your blend - for

example Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin), or Atlas Cedarwood (Cedrus

atlantica), etc ...

I haven't tried it without--I like the orange color and I don't really

have time to deal with a batch that didn't hold up, so I haven't

tested the blend alone. The Ginger might make the Sweet Orange stick

better on its own. Wish I had time to test it out.
