Guest guest
Hey Janet, Good to see you posting .. glad you signed up. :-) > This newbie would like to know which EO's are good for smelling to help > drive away the blues. Depends on your personal olfactory appreciation and interpretation but a good place to start is with Rose Otto .. very few folks dislike it. But there is some risk in using Rose Otto .. it often brings out emotions we would like to suppress .. sometimes it brings out feelings we need to deal with. I have a few testimonials from folks who cried for happy and a few others who cried for reasons unknown. > I'm a native Floridian who has lived the last 18 years in Kentucky who > just had to move to northern Ohio and I'm having the worst time adjusting > to not having sunshine. Being a legal Floridian (never lived there) who is registered to vote in Brevard County, who always fills out his absentee ballot correctly ;-), and a real Suthran Kentuckian .. I can understand your missing the sun. Not sure how far north into Ohio you are but Kentucky will start to have blooms on the trees pretty soon. > I've been thinking about trying some of the special light bulbs (can't > think of the name of them right now, suffering a sinus headache) but if > there are certain EO's that would help with the blue feelings better then > light bulbs that would be wonderful. Light bulks are good. I raised Pharaoh Quail while outside Atlanta .. they are a breed that will lay 12 months a year .. but in the winter I had to put a light in their coop or they would stop laying. ;-) > I've only been dealing with EO's for the last year, so I don't know much > about all the wonderful properties of all of them. You started in the right place .. this list. And I have told you about the reference publications you (and everyone else) need(s) .. plus a bit about Martin's AT Course .. so you will get there in time. The properties of EO basically fall into the following categories. Physiological .. big bad bug butt kicking time .. works even if one has no sense of smell. Psychological .. somewhat tied into Physiological and also into the following. This too is based on chemical effects that we don't really have control over. Emotional .. In fact .. this might be the catch all. There can well be Physiological change occurring to affect our sense of well being .. and this change can be a result of effects to one or both of the above .. OR it can simply be a feeling of euphoria one gets for personal reasons. I like to use the example of horse manure .. take an ol' Texas boy who was raised on a ranch .. stick him in New York City .. and odds are he can get significant Emotional (and Psychological ?) benefit from smelling macerated horse manure. ;-) > Any guidance from yall would be so welcomed. Rose Otto .. Jasmine Absolute .. Red Mandarin .. Neroli .. and finally, Rose Otto. Since you lived in Florida a long time .. it might bring back a lot of memories if the local housing association comes by and tells you they don't like the color of the flower pots on your back porch. ;-) > Blessings to you, > Janet C. Matherly > Proud mother to a recently returned United States Marine from Iraq > Meadowyck, Artistic Body Essentials > meadowyck You have every reason to be a proud mother ..
