Guest guest
I'm new so I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Catherine. I live in Minnesota. I teach adult ed and writing. Writing is the reason I joined this site. I do a little fictional writing on the side, and I'm doing a story now that involves two characters who do wildcrafting and produce their own essential oils. I want to get my facts straight, but the literature only goes so far. I need to chat with someone who knows about this activity from personal experience. Right now, I'm trying to find information about the monardas, specifically bee balm and/or horsemint. I have info on what it can be used for, but there's very little info on producing the oil. For example, how much plant material is needed to produce 1 lb of oil? If it's similar to peppermint, it could be quite high, as much as 1000 lbs to 1 lb of oil. Also, does anyone know of any actual distillers of anything in Minnesota? I hoping to get some first hand experience.
