Please excuse my ignorance on this topic. A lady posted a homemade remedy for

facial cleansing and put in her post that people with diabetes should not use

epsom salts. I emailed her to ask about her posting and she said it was common

knowledge not to use it but did not elaborate. Would it be too much salt

adsorption through the skin for diabetics, for instance, if using bath salts?

If anyone has heard of this, would you post a comment?

Thanks,

Vicki

Hi Vicki,

I don't think it is the epsom salts per se, but hot or warm soaks that

should be avoided by diabetics. It is listed on the epsom salts package

that " Hot or warm soaks should not be used by individuals with diabetes

except on the advice of a physician. " This is because diabetics

generally have peripheral neuropathy or very little feeling in their

extremities, especially toes and feet, so it's easy for them to get burned.

I had the same question a while back after seeing it and researched it

and that is what I came up with.

HTH! :-)
