Guest guest
Hi all.. Been busier than blazes. I have finally gotten a name picked out, registered it and did the paperwork for my sales license. I am officially " Cherry's Cottage Creations " . How does it sound to you all? I am getting ready for my first craft fair, too. Actually, it is a little earlier than I had anticipated, but my sister-in-law who is on tons of councils in our little berg pushed me to do a table at the town fund raiser craft fair. The good thing is that I know just about everyone who will attend, and they will give me a good idea of what sells, what they want, etc. I am hoping this will open the door for me to really start selling. I am working my hiney off getting soap made, and ordered supplies and biting my nails to the quick hoping they get here in time. The craft fair is on the 19th and I am already scared silly. I have been getting good review on the stuff I had made previously that I gave out for Christmas, so I hope everything goes over well. Anyway, one thing I found out already is that I have a lot more to learn about blending EOs for fragrance. I made a lavender scented soap and I think I might have been a little heavy handed with the amount I added to the soap. Right now the house is so full of lavender fragrance that I bet they can smell it out in the street. Hubby hasn't said much about it yet, but that is because his allergies are kicking in and he can't smell much right now. I'd give him oregano to help his nose, but I think I will wait until the lavender fades away a bit more. Keeps me out of trouble, this way. I have read so much and studied and researched and did all I am supposed to do regarding blending, but I think this is one area where practice makes perfect comes in. Oh well...hope somebody likes really strong lavender soap! Talk to you all later.. Cherry Cherry's Cottage Creations
Guest guest
Dear Cherry, Cute name! Craft fairs are such fun. Allow me give you one small hint. ENJOY the Process. Prepare as well as you can, and use all your business savvy in setting up, but once the great day is there, make sure you get a good nght's sleep and then enjoy being there. Go with the idea that any sale is a bonus. Your light-hearted attitude will attract people to your table. I show my Amazon Herb stuff at farmer's markets. I generally do best when I worry least. Have fun and tell us how it went! Ien in the Kooyenays ************************************************ Just for today, do not worry. Just for today, don't get angry. Guest guest
Thanks, Ien! It's a good thing this is a small craft fair and that I know most of the people (our little town only has 450 or so people, depending on when the last baby around here was born), but I have been spreading the word and so have my family that I will have my new soaps and such and so far, so good. I have taken note of what other people have said about their own craft fair experiences and have gotten a lot of good advice on that. I am very grateful because I found there were a lot of thing I totally forgot about to get and this helps me a lot. All the soap and toiletry crafters in these groups are such fab people..and all the advice we newbies get is worth its weight in gold, platinum, diamonds and rubies, etc.! If I ever get to be the multi-millionare I have dreamed of being, I will invite you all to the private South Pacific island I will be buying. (That means I have to sell one heck of a lot of soap, so I better get busy!)
