Guest guest
Since I've had a few folks ask me this off-line I figured that there must be others here wondering the same thing so I'll answer it here too .... > ....what is a Neti Pot ?? A Neti Pot is a little ceramic container with a handle and a spout that looks almost like a Genie's Lamp without the lid (at least the one I have is like that, there are several varieties). To use it, one puts a saline solution into it and then irrigates their nasal passages by tipping the head to the side, tilting the pot up against one nostril, and letting the salt water run through the nasal passages. The process is then repeated on the other side. After that you lean your head down over the sink and all the icky mucousy gunk comes pouring out of the nose. Might sound a bit yucky, but it really is a wonderful contraption and I find that it works great for us around here I even gave one to a friend with sinus issues for his birthday (I know, I give strange gifts *lol*)! *Smile* Chris (list mom) <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/> http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Hi Linda, > I just left Google and learning about Neti Pots after reading your last post..... There is a lot of info about it out there. > sounds like a good idea to me and logical too if you really think about it.... It really is. Far better than nose sprays. > how often do you use your Neti Pot? For us around here it usually gets used when colds are going around (or have been caught) and if allergies are bugging us. I'm thinking my older child (who is 5) is getting big enough to learn how to use it too. > Linda *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com

How do you stop the saline solution from going down the back of your throat? Or do I just have this problem? Barbara

Guest guest
Chris, couldn't they just block the back of their throat off with their tongue ? Just curious about that. I used to practice doing that when I was a kid, don't ask my why cause I have no clue. Just a dumb kid thing. I just usually tilt my head forward and to the side a bit more if I notice its going into my mouth and down the throat ... its one of those things that gets easier when you've done it a few times cause you find the right way to position your head - its kind of hard to describe how to tilt your head properly, you just get a " feel " for it .... *Smile* Chris (list mom) Don't Miss Out On Our Orsa Pink " Real " Salt Special http://www.alittleolfactory.com <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/>
