Guest guest
As I am about to have my morning cup of tea (and finally get the ol' brain awake I was just wondering .. what are your favorite teas? I personally love Earl Grey tea! It is the perfect start to my morning. Jasmine tea is also becoming one of my faves, but not for first cup of the day. That one is for later in the day, after I'm awake and don't need more caffeine I also love many other kinds of teas. I have a WHOLE shelf in my pantry full of teas *lol* I must have been British in a past life Well, I'm off to have my tea Ta ta ... *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
I'll drink chamomile when I'm feeling edgy, but not a big tea fan. Give me coffee...lots of it! Guest guest
I'm a coffee person first thing in the morning. And we always try and have a least one cup of green tea in the afternoon. During iced tea season I like strawberry kiwi -- makes a great iced tea. I also like most citrus teas. And yes Jasmine is a very nice treat. And like you I have a cupboard full of different teas. I have an extra coffee pot ( one of those $9)that is just for tea water and it is on a lot especially when we have people coming in and out -- seems to make them feel welcome. When I was doing a lot of " herbing " we use to make up lots of fun stuff for teas, don't remember all the combos but was fun to play with. Guest guest
I am a HUGE tea fan... I drink the snobby complicated green teas (you won't see me going to a grocery store and buying it there) and am a bit self-educated about the Chinese greens and the Japanese greens. I love Genmaicha. I also love Kukicha as far as Chinese goes. But... I'm ALL about yerba mate. I don't care for it in its unadulterated state though! Guayaki (I'm not pitching for them) sells some flavored ones like chai, cocoa, mint, orange blossom, and they are all yummy. There are other brands but I am not recalling them at the moment; Guayaki seems to be pretty ubiquitous and easiest to find in my area. I like how I feel with yerba... it's a great pick me up but it isn't the same caffeine buzz as coffee, no jitters. My favorite is the chai flavor and I pour some almond milk in it. I also like it because you can just put a couple yerba bags in a glass of cold water and it brews itself, instant iced " tea " . The mint is great for that. That's my two cents :-) Michelle in Cleve Pandemonia [pandemonia] Sunday, February 13, 2005 12:31 PM Re: Tea Time I'll drink chamomile when I'm feeling edgy, but not a big tea fan. Guest guest
Yum! I like yerba mate , too! Do you drink it the traditional way - in a gourd with a bombilla? I like it - people think I'm drinking something illegal. LOL Cindy - I am a HUGE tea fan... Guest guest
ROFL!!! I tried once and it kinda didn't do it for me. I went all the way authentic the first time... you know... gotta do it right with the right paraphernalia... so I tried the plain, unroasted (I think) green stuff, unflavored, in the bombilla... whoooo-eeeeee! I think now that I've eased in with the flavored stuff I could go back to it, but my cat claimed the bombilla as a way cool toy unfortunately... which is pretty funny. He likes to see if he can get a toy ball in the bombilla and then chase it out. Ah well, at least it went to good use. It DOES look a bit suspect... ;-) But hey good stuff. Do you drink plain or flavored? have a brand you like? - Michelle Pittstown Soapworks, LLC [guinness97] Sunday, February 13, 2005 4:38 PM Re: Tea Time Yum! I like yerba mate , too! Guest guest
I've only had the plain green stuff - it's definitely an " acquired taste " - lol. Too funny about the bombilla. My dogs know better than to get into my toys! Mine is metal, though, so I think it's probably safe. I've only gotten mine from Aviva. Got another source for me? I've seen it in health food stores locally but even with shipping it's MUCH more expensive. I'm in NJ - USA. Cindy - ROFL!!! I tried once and it kinda didn't do it for me. Guest guest
Great question! In the morning, it has to be coffee. Organic, shade-grown, fair-trade, but coffee. Very occasionally some " tea tea " in the afternoon. Usually Earl Grey, sometimes Lapsang Souchong from Twinings. Jasmine tea once in a while. I tried getting interested in green tea but it just doesn't cal to me. I tried doing tea in the morning and somehow it upsets my stomach. Coffee doesn't. As for the herbals, chamomile once in a while but only after I have brushed my teeth and everything. It knocks me right out! Red clover mixed with lemon balm or mint. I always end up with more red clover than I use because I love gathering them so much. I really like Rooibos once in a while. And 9 times out of 10 I end up with a thermos of the Amazon Rainforest tea that is part of my business. Usually the straight red stuff, once in a while the Yerba Mate version. Guest guest
I'm a stickler on chai... I insist on going to my local Indian market and buying chai masala, using jaggery as the sweetener, and the whole routine!!! It's SO good that way. What a stuck-up person I am! Naaah, I'm an Indian food fanatic and I've been engaged in a three-year self-study program (of sorts!) in Indian cooking. FINALLY starting to pay off. Such a complicated cuisine. - Michelle in Cleve RICHARD L HOHLER [kat964] Monday, February 14, 2005 7:13 AM Re: Tea Time I too love Chai...have you ever tried the Chai Latte. It is simply the best. Guest guest
Well, when I drink my tea of choice, it would be Bigalow's Constant Comment. Not only does it taste good now, but brings back memories of drinking tea with my mother...who used it as well. Am trying to get into the herbal or floral teas as well, and when I do, I like either hybiscus or peach. Will also drink chamomile when I feel really stressed.
