I really don't know a cure. Is anyone saying that eucalyptus will help?

Hi all, forgive a cross post if you are also on the ATFE board. I'm

covering all bases.

I haven't started my training yet, and love of my life is in miserable pain

with a sinus headache affecting all of his sinus regions; I had him point to

where it hurts, and it's frontal all the way down to maxillary region. Says

the headache is about a 7 out of 10. Having an allergy attack due to

working in a house today stripping wallpaper and painting in a VERY dusty

and poorly kept room (NOT MINE!!! I'm a clean freak).

If anyone can recommend some AT or other therapy, I have a FEW end-user

quality EOs around and some carrier oils. If anyone's out there right now,

this would be SO very appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Michelle,

For severe sinus headaches and congestion. You could try

some trigger point therapy. With NO OIL have your husband lie down on the

end of the bed or the floor if your back is ok. Use your forefingers and find

a tender spot above each eye on his forehead. The point is toward the ear.

Press in gently but firming and he will be able to guide by the discomfort when

you find it. Simply press and release. You can also do small circles as you

press both fingers doing circles towards the nose.

The next spot is just above the eyebrow at the bridge of the nose, sometimes

it can extent into the eyebrow. Remember each person is different the points

are the same you will know you have it by the tenderness. Don't be afraid to

press firmly.

Make sure you wash your hands first......Next go to the nostril on each side

press you will find an indentation just above the lip next to each nostril

press there and hold and release also circular like before.

With Lavender eo you can massage the neck right up where it meets the skull.

This is high up in the hair line. Use your thumb and middle finger of the

same hand. He can sit up and you have him tilt his head into your waiting hand.

You balance the pressure with your left hand on his forehead so you can

press in with the right. Rev. if left handed.

The sinus reflex pt's. are on the toes the tips mainly. Here you can use

eucalyptus eo and massage with pressure thumb on bottom and forefinger on top.

Make sure you are very careful to his level of pain. Be gentle at first. This

will help with the sinus congestion.

Of course this is not meant to diagnose or treat any illness only a medicine

man should do that. With AMA and FDA approval.

Yes, Jan, thanks. I did receive that suggestion. We did a cool compress to

shrink the swollen sinuses and diffused some eucalyptus. He also took some

Tylenol although I'd prefer he preserve his liver thankyouverymuch... but

he is doing much better now.

Thanks again -

Thanks Laura! I had not heard those suggestions yet regarding lavender. I

did use eucalyptus in a diffuser and a cool compress, and he's doing better.

Sorry to hear your hubby suffers so. Jeff is beginning to enjoy my efforts

far more than a doctor visit, that's for sure. He thanks everyone for the

assistance and is getting a kick out of me running down to check my computer

for messages ;-)

Whereabouts near Cleve are you? I'm still seeking resources in the area,

but admittedly am somewhat new in town. Well, 2 years, but it takes a long

time to get settled, especially as I work at home and consequently don't get

out a whole lot.

Hi Michelle,

My husband suffers from chronic sinus infections and headaches.

He finds relief from inhaling a few drops of lavender and peppermint in a

bowl of steaming water.

I have also used lavender in a carrier oil for a head and face massage

concentrating on the sinus cavities.

We use eucalyptus occasionally for the sinus infections and when he is

really stuffy.

Laura (who lives near cleve, too!)

Hi Michelle,

I find that sniffing Oregano oil (one of the varieties high in carvacrol

such as Origanum dubium or O. vulgare) is really good for helping get to

the root of sinus issues, especially the ones caused by some sort of

infection. It can be used alone or in blends with some of the other oils

mentioned already , such as Lavender (Lavandula stoechas would be really

good here), Peppermint (Mentha piperita), Rosemary (a high cineol

variety of Rosmarinus officinalis), Eucalyptus (such as e. globulous or

e. radiata), etc ...

Also, I have a ceramic Neti Pot for irrigating the sinuses with salt

water and I love my Neti Pot. It is a wonderful thing :) Might want to

look into getting one .. I think everyone should :)
