Guest guest
Hey Chris My favorite is cp, since i use gm in my soap I like them to be as light as possible and quite frankly I never tried any other method but hand milling (when i first started out) Vickie Tierra De Cabros Gladys (Vickie) Swaim http://tierradecabros.bizhosting.com
Guest guest
HP, only because I have never done CP or HPOP Took me a few years to go from melt and pour to HP. All the warnings about lye scared me. After my first batch of HP I realized it was not so bad. I was hooked after my first batch! CP seems to intimidate me a bit. Maybe I should just get over it and try. CP, --------------------------- Hi Chris, I've been soaping on and off for 25 years or more and have tried all methods. I find that CP with discounted water and no gell allowed wins hands down. I cut in 6-8 hours and there is minimal shrinkage because of the discount. The soap is useable immediately but seems to be at its best after a week. Guest guest
I like them all and CP was my first love but I was introduced to HPOP not long ago and I must say I love it. I guess I just like the instant gratification and the fact that if I need a particular soap right away I can get it. But I still do CP when I have the time to wait on a soap to bloom. Guest guest
DWCP (discounted water cold process) because it speeds up the cure time. I've done all the other methods, and this is the one I stick with. Guest guest
Chris - I generally do DWCP (discount water cold process) and don't let the soap gel because I like to keep the process as cool as possible to keep as many of my additives' values as possible in the soap. Of course, sometimes I do gel, but infrequently. I also have used and liked CPOP, but since I use round PVC molds, Its a pain to get them filled exactly enough so they can be laid on their sides and not flatten out - or maybe that'd be cool looking - think I'll try it, altho If I have to rebatch, I always do microwave rebatch. Have never been able to get any other kind to work. Ivy
Guest guest
Cold Process for sure. Have done only one hot process and it turned out fine, just didn't like the babysitting time. CP is much easier for me. Why? Well, it just turns out a much nicer looking soap and I don't mind the wait. Guest guest
Morning, I use the cphp method. I want to try cp because it is my understanding that cp is a much better bar. True? I would also like to know if hpop makes a better bar than the cphp or cp method. Opinions are most welcome! Guest guest
I've never made soap, but just yesterday I cut up a plain bar of soap with the intention of melting it down to add some essential oils and/or herbs to it, but I thought then I didn't know what to add to melt it ~in; an oil of some kind, like olive or almond? I have several fixed oils, and also herb infused oils. Also, after it is all melted and mixed together, do you just pour it into any form you want to harden it again? How long will this take, and how do you get it back out of the form? Is there a best eo or herb to put in soap, or maybe some that you would never use? Thanks, Sand
Guest guest
Not to be a smarta$$, but I was trying to figure out how to answer this without confusing everyone.......lol. My favorite method is NRTLDWCPOP - doubt anyone else will answer with that one - it's nearly room temperature lightly discounted water cold process oven process. The reasons: nearly room temp - because I'm impatient lightly discounted water - because I'm impatient cold process - because I like it oven process - because I'm impatient : ) Cindy - To all the soapers on the list .. what is your favorite soap making process (for example, Cold Process a.k.a. Guest guest
Well, favorite is CP. I do slab molds and the top is creamier than with the other methods, however the cure time is longer. But I do the hpcp (hot process, crock pot ) for a change occationally, as I have tried them all. IF, I have a customer that wants something I don't have and wants it in a week or two I'll do the cpop, or what ever it is called for when you make cp then put it on the oven. I don't normally do this, cause my oven is small, and it won't hold my 40 bar mold. This summer I'm going to try a suggestion that was given out a year or so ago on another list, and make a solar oven and try that! Guest guest
If it's hot enough, park your car in the sun and set it on the floor of your car. I did and boy, did my car ever smell nice for a long time ! My kids thought I was nuts - driving around with 4 full soap molds on teh floor in teh back seat. I was able to make 12 pounds of soap and run errands at the same time LOL Paula ........in Michigan Coming soon Farm Fresh Soaps & Candles I have too, but haven't tried that yet either!
