Guest guest
Actually I found it very interesting! What other herbs did you use in the poultice? I know we've had a few gals here deal with mastitis (and one gal here has a goat with mastitis), and I'm sure they won't be the last, so its always a good topic to talk about. Thanks for sharing Renee. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Brownay2 [brownay2] I love poke root. I know none of you care to hear this but, I made a poultice of this along with some other herbs to treat a really bad case of mastitis. I don't really know to many people that really use the plant, so this was interesting being herb of the week. Renee
Guest guest
I was so desperate at the time, that I did not want to use antibiotics. I only got mastitis this one time, I was very ill. So I decided to do some research, and made up a poultice of Poke root, Calendula, Marshmallow root that I grinded to a powder, then I added grated potatoes, and grated some cabbage. Put the wet clump of it in cabbage leaves then put it on. Oh, and another thing that really worked I think was putting the mixture in the fridge, before applying. I swear that this worked so fast, and relieved the pain, I was in aw. Here I was thinking, I will just mix everything that I knew has worked into one, and add some things that I like. Thank god, none of our workers just walked in. But I was so desperate. Some things that I have made really work, others are bloopers. I cannot give exact amounts of each, I think it was just putting all those things together that made it work. Renee Brown
