I have some too and I put them on my woodstove and let them burn off. Smells

the house up nice. I wonder if they could be melted to put in soap?

Sorry this isn't pertaining to this thread, but since you were talking

Frankincense, I have some Frankincense tears that a lady gave to me when she

was getting out of the soap making part of her business and I have no clue

what to do with them. Do they have a shelf life?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

I make some wonderful incense with them. Grind them in a mortar and

pestle, add some ground up herbs to that (for example, ground rosemary

is REALLY nice with frankincense) and then burn on a hot charcoal .. but

that is just one idea :)

Very purifying :)

>Do they have a shelf life?<

A couple of thousand years give or take! There will be chemical

changes for sure, but still fine for use in a heated difuser or maybe

better a few at a time just thrown on a fire.

Chris,

Thank you for the answer. How do you mean " burn it on a charcoal? Like the

charcoal briquets used for outdoor grills? Or are there indoor incense

charcoals? I am not an incense burner so I don't have a clue as to what is

out there. LOL

*lol* .. They are dried drops of resin, from a tree... kind of like when

you see sap from pine trees around a wound on the tree ... dripping down

the bark, and it gets solid .. that is all they are .. solidified sap

drops (resin) from the frankincense trees.

Hi Karen,

Fankincense is a resin, and the tears are what is collected from the plant

(I believe its a bush>) when the resin collects. Apparently, it looks as

though the plant is weeping, which is why they are called " tears "

I have used frankincense tears in soap and they do not have any value

beside that of an exfoliant. They are very scratchy to boot, so you

would have to grind them into a very, very fine powder for them to

not be wholly unpleasant. The fragrance will not transfer to the soap.
