Guest guest
I was at our Whole Foods Market today and saw that they had three different brands of eo's. Oshadhi, which I use and like, Aura Cacia, and Wyndemere. On the Wyndemere display it said 100% Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils- 100% Organic and Wildcrafted. I was always under the assumption that these oils were not great ones and was super surprised to see them advertised this way. The bottle only says Pure Essential Oils- 100% Guaranteed. A 15 ml bottle of frankincense was $4.25! So was this false advertising??? Please give me feedback. TIA! xJonellex xHappy New Year 2005x Peace. Guest guest
Hi Jonelle, Sounds to me like that frankincense's retail price is less than it costs to produce! Even worse - consider this - Whole Foods has to mark it up from the price they get it at to make a profit, and Wyndmere has to mark it up from the price they get it at to make a profit .... and a lot of times there is a distributor involved who has to make a profit too ... so if the retail price is less than it cost the distiller to make, and its gone through at LEAST two price mark ups already ..... all I can say is - caveat emptor! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com jmhborne [jmhborne] I was at our Whole Foods Market today and saw that they had three different brands of eo's. They are a local company (Minneapolis) and I do have some opinions regarding their displays/ marketing, etc. I have seen their in store displays in some of the the natural foods co-ops here (Whole Foods no longer carries them here) and actually gotten fairly annoyed with their signs- they are misleading in my opinion. If you look more closely and read the labels you will see that they offer a few oils with these distinctions. Read your labels carefully and look at the displays carefully. Regardless, no one is selling high quality Frankincense eo at that price for 15 ml retail. Oh, (I just checked the wholesale product info I have albeit 3 yrs old on this company's products)...look more closely. It looks like they *do* sell a Frankincense 10% Boswellia thurifera from Kenya in a 10 ml bottle. My I would guess from the price that that is what you bought is is this oil and a 10% dilution in Jojoba. The suggested retail on it is $4.25 This is the only way they sell this apparently- and the only way they sell Frankincense (besides bulk). I don't know anyone that sells Frankincense this way (10% dilution), but oh well. Be sure to look at the latin name and country of origin as well as buying from a reputable company if you want a high quality product. Do some research so you have some idea what to look for. Although I would not buy essential oils from this company personally, it looks like what they sold you was confusing to say the least, but not as strange as you first thought- perceived for the price.
