Tinctures/Extracts For Natural Scenting

Hi Folks,

 

I've been meaning to mention this for some time now ...

 

I got some REALLY lovely samples of tinctured extracts from fellow list

member Linda Wallen. Just wonderful stuff that you can't get in EO form

- like Strawberry, Apricot, Bluebonnet, Wisteria, etc ... that

strawberry that she makes is AMAZING (the others are really great too

but the strawberry really just stands out to me). These are perfect for

making natural perfume blends when you want those certain scents that

can't be gotten in oil form or the oils are cost prohibitive. Linda

mentions that she uses them in some of her lotions and creams even.

 

Oh Linda .. come out, come out wherever you are to tell the good folks

more about these great creations of yours (I think she might even have

them available for sale

 

Anyone else here make their own " scent " tinctures? I know I have a TON

of stuff I want to play around with tincturing .. so many things to do,

so little time!

Chris,

I make Oak Moss, Jasmine, Rose, Melissa, and several others but my

Oak Moss and Jasmine are my favorites. The oak moss will soften has harsh

smelling formula and round off its edges. I take the oak moss from the

native Texas oak trees and let it set for several years. If you want a

sample I will send you some.

aw shucks, ma'am [blushing] ... thank you kindly for the nice words. I see

you've already gotten several responses from folks that also tincture for

fragrance. It can be fun! and also frustrating ;o( Some flowers tincture

best when fresh (wisteria) others tincture better when dried (rose petals).

Others just turn nasty in the alcohol (mimosa). Anyway, I worked with

alcohol tinctures, jojoba infusions and coconut oil enfleurage last year to

try to capture fragrances naturally. When things start blooming this year,

I'll pick up where I left off ... hmmmmm, maybe the apricot blossoms will be

as nice as the apricot fruit.

 

I'll try to post a list for the next ad day ... it's " funny " that January

has been so much busier for me than it was before the holidays.
