Guest guest
oregano e.o. is one of the best multi-purpose e.o.'s you can find. It does cure or help to cure many things and will help any cut or scrape to heal amazingly fast. It will kill a fungus on teh skin -that what makes it a good ingredient in things for athlete's foot. Guest guest
Hi Jan, > My manicurist is onto oregano. She thinks it cures a bunch of things. It does .. but not as many things as the marketers claim .. especially folks like (ex-Dr. .. surrendered his medical license) Cass Igram of North American Herb & Spice. Igram advertises a lot on radio and he wrote a book that promotes the use of Oregano oil .. The Cure is in the Cupboard: How to Use Oregano Oil for Better Health .. I didn't use parens on that title cause I'm not 100% sure the wording is correct and though I have a copy of it here its buried deep and don't wanna search it out now. Reason its buried deep is because there is more hype than truth in it. Basically .. he embellishes a lot and the doses he writes of in the book relate to his products .. what he calls " Oil of Oregano " , which is NOT straight Oregano EO .. its like 5% Oregano and 95% Olive Oil but he doesn't make that clear at all. If you use straight Oregano in the manner he writes you'll learn some new dance steps. > Are there many kinds and suppiers. Yes .. and you know who the biggest supplier is .. its me. ;-) I'm sending 300 kilos to Canada in early February. When my Turkish company was open I exported .. on average .. 500-750 kilos a month. Back in the mid-90s I was Igram's supplier .. sold him 1,000 - 1,500 kilos a month. Now he has a partnership with the most corrupt distiller in Turkey .. one that all the other distillers detest for a number of good reasons. A bunch of folks have picked up on what Igram started and are pushing Oregano as the " Magic Bullet " . Problem is .. those who are doing this are basing all of their marketing on his marketing .. many of them have approached me to buy the oil and they have some wild ideas .. asking questions like .. " Will your oil do this and that, " .. and I tell them that Gawd ain't allowed no Oregano plant to exist that will do all the crap you guys claim it will. They are pushing something they know NOTHING about .. and they could be dangerous except that they too are selling a highly diluted oil. Basically .. there is what one could call an Oregano Cult out there. Still .. Origanum is perhaps the most powerful EO in existence. I've written hundreds of posts from me on this .. starting back in 1995. There is no single oil I know of that has the power of Oregano .. its the classic Big Bug Butt Kicking oil. > What is the recommendation of a good one and does it really kill > fungus? Yes .. it is highly anti-fungal. Any of the Origanums that are Carvacrol rich will work .. see below. > Jan Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com - - - - - - - - - - BRIEF FACTS ON THE ORIGANUMS - - - - - - - - All of the Origanums except the Origanum dubium Linalool Type are carvacrol-rich and carvacrol is the active therapeutic component people seek. Higher carvacrol aromatic plants are more expensive to purchase. We have some plants that will produce oils with carvacrol levels over 80%. This simply means you get more bang for the buck when mixing it with olive oil or whatever. You use less oil to get the same results. Origanum vulgare is the best seller. Maybe people associate the name and the fact that there is one company making some fairly sound health claims and selling it as " Oil of Oregano " in a 5%- 10% Oregano/95%-90% Olive Oil mixture for as much as $29.95 per 2/3 ounce bottle. With mine, one can mix their own and create a dozen bottles of the $29.95 product for less than half the price. Origanum onites has been the next best seller and that might be due to some things I've written on it and a portion of the lecture I gave at an AT Conference in Toronto, Canada in September 1999. I presented research conducted by five prominent professors in Turkey using Origanum onites in a project involving lung tumors in rats, using three different groups and three treatments, one of them being normal cancer treatments. I presented the study, showed the audience colored micro slides of the lung tissues. The Origanum onites not only stopped the growth but also caused recession of the growths! The lung tissue was reverting to its previously normal pink and clear state!! I made it clear that this is not an indication that it will cure cancer in humans but it shows a great need for further research and such research is ongoing. Origanum dubium is the next best seller, possibly because it appears to have a lighter odor than the others. Turks generally prefer it for home medication. Origanum dubium (Linalool type) is in its own class .. a very nice odor and dual therapeutic value. It's high in linalool, as is lavender, and high in carvacrol, as is oregano. It has healing properties of oregano and lavender .. so much so that the common name in Turkey is Lavanta Kekik (Lavender Oregano.) It's endemic to Turkey - not found elsewhere and even here it's only found in a very small corner of the Southeast. When people get samples of it from us, they buy it. I normally use it for inhalation and it is great for diffusion - I love the odor. I prefer Origanum vulgare, Origanum onites and Origanum dubium for kicking Big Bad Bug Butts but I do not make recommendations to others on ingestion of essential oils. I recommend buyers consult their doctor prior to this manner of usage. So - one can choose based on the above descriptions of each oil. For colds and flu, I use the onites, vulgare or dubium. For diffusion any one will do the job but just for inhalation, I'd go with the O. dubium (Linalool type) because I love the odor. All have proven antiseptic, antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-spasmodic properties and they are believed to be capable of stimulating the immune system. Guest guest
As much as my belief was in it I couldn't beat it with the Oregano. Knocked me down. Second time around I used it in tea. So far I have not come down with a symptom, though he has for the second time. Said that w/in about an hour of the first use she started feeling sick...was sick as a dog for about 24 hours... kept using the cistus oil topically, and w/in 24 hours the sickness had passed and the swollen gland was back to normal...and never reoccured. her take on it was that whatever infection was causing the gland to stay swollen moved thru her body and passed.
