Guest guest
Are you sure that you are not talking about DHEA instead of dshea? If so, then this is the precursor to the HGH (human growth hormone) and you can find information on the web by running a search. It appears to be safe and helpful in many conditions but I think that taking it would be a personal choice. I looked into it about 6 to 9 months ago at the request of my mom's doctor for stress and immune system building. It has no noticeable side effects whereas the HGH does have some side effects such as acid reflux, depression, and hyperactivity and other things. Rhavda Emison >Does anyone know anything about this? Hi Bree, In one of my trade mags they had the following articles, which are probably related to what you're being asked to sign a petition about ..... *Smile* Chris (list mom) Don't Miss The Current Co-ops & Pre Buys http://www.alittleolfactory.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FDA signals stricter DSHEA enforcement Shane Starling January 2005 Industry has responded positively to the Food and Drug Administration's declaration that it will more assiduously police the US food supplements market via the Dietary Supplements and Health Education Act of 1994. " The FDA announcement is basically good news, " said Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council. " It is a sign that the agency appears to want to ensure that it fully enforces the terms of the DSHEA. This is a sign that the FDA's future enforcement of the safety and claims regulations for dietary supplements will be more consistent and scientifically based. " President of the US Council for Responsible Nutrition, Annette Dickinson, said: " For the 150 million Americans who choose to use dietary supplements, the FDA's actions signal the agency's confidence in a regulatory framework that ensures consumers affordable access to a wide variety of safe dietary supplements. These actions also demonstrate that under the 1994 law, there are many regulatory approaches available to the FDA for effective enforcement. " The FDA's initiatives include guidance for industry on substantiation for structure function claims, warning and advisory letters to distributors and marketers of products making unsubstantiated claims, closer scrutiny of new dietary ingredients and adverse events, speedier and more punitive treatment of unsafe products, implementation of long-awaited GMPs and random supplement-content testing. The FDA release can be found at www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/news/2004/NEW01130.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` In Briefs February 2005 Outgoing Department of Health and Human Services secretary Tommy Thompson has taken a parting shot at the Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act. In his resignation speech he stated: " I really think Congress should take a look at the food supplement law again. It doesn't make any sense to me. You require pharmaceutical companies to prove the safety of their drugs before they get FDA approval, but at the same time, food supplements, we have to prove as unsafe in order to remove them from the market ... It's a very long process; we have to prove that they are unsafe. That, to me, is a burden of proof that the FDA should not be required to do.
