Guest guest
This will be short due to another raging migraine. Ebay is once again upping it's Fees. Those of you who use them often will already know this. What I don't think they understand, is that there comes a point when folk get fed up with all their fees and start going elsewhere. I myself have pretty much abandoned ebay for my auctions and have gone to epaganauctions.com where the fees are very small. Others are turning to more and more and auctions.overstock.com is becoming a lot more popular. New auction sites are starting to be spread around the internet simply to take advantage of what is considered to be, their greed. Now I don't thing Ebay is going to die, but I do think they are going to lose a lot of the smaller business folk who can't afford to keep paying through the nose when they can go elsewhere. Those who do a huge amount of business there will prolly continue to sell there but it's my opinion that in this course ebay will become the " big business " aution site and will lose much in pursuing that course. I'm curious what other people think? Have the price hikes put you off and are you going to other auction sites... also, if you don't mind, which ones? Cheers! Guest guest
We use ebay a lot -- mostly selling and some buying. And yes it has affected how we sell thing. Something we use to be able to offer at 99C we now will have to sell at $1.99 just to break even. And then its harder to sell. At 99C we would only make a small amount but that was ok, its a volume thing. We've talked about going else where but just haven't yet. The only one we knew about was , so thanks for the other address -- will check them out. Rita Woobey Queen <WoobeyQueen wrote: This will be short due to another raging migraine. Guest guest
I personally view Ebay as more a form of advertising than acutal sales. YES, we sell on there, and certainly enjoy the proceeds from that. BUT, I'd still list things even if we didn't sell ANYTHING, because it is absolutely FABULOUS advertising for us - as far as I'm concerned you just can't beat it! It's a great market - a HUGE audience of people who are very comfortable buying online and probably have a paypal account - perfect for us businesses located in the sticks (in the middle of Iowa cornfields, literally) who rely on online purchasers. We always include catalogs and free samples with all our orders - EBAY order especially - to hopefully drive ebay purchaser to our site if they like the item they purchased and customer service we offer (which, hopefully, they do). Yep, it does suck that they are raising fees - my hubby and I were just talking about that the other day. But basically, they truly do have a corner on the market, it seems like (EVERYONE knows about ebay..how many people know about the other options you mentioned? I didn't!). Some smart business should definately try and take advantage of their rate hikes...but I am not sure if the others are positioned to do so, especially given that ebay owns paypal. Great post though, and certainly something to think about - hope the other smaller auctions sites are taking advantage of Ebay's rate hikes - they certainly should! -maggie prairielandherbs.com , " Woobey Queen " <WoobeyQueen@e...> wrote: > This will be short due to another raging migraine. > > Ebay is once again upping it's Fees.
