Guest guest
I wouldn't use any infused oils, just use plain olive oil, or sweet almond oil. Rahnny
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, It's me again, crazy new mom! BTW, breastfeeding is going great now, and I have to thank you all again for your responses. Here's my new question . . . Owen has beautiful soft skin, except on his face. He has patches which I thought were eczema, but the pediatrician says it is just dry skin and that I should moisturize. Well, I have been doing that, first with massage oil (a blend of carrier oils infused with calendula) and then with a butter made with various butters and oils and lavender and chamomile essential oils (wasn't really crazy about using any essential oils on his face, but it is very low dilutions). Then, I made a special lotion with lavender hydrosol, shea and cocoa butters, colloidal oatmeal, rice bran oil, EV olive infused with calendula. I don't think it is getting any better, and I question whether or not it really is dry skin since it is only on his face. More info -- the patches started on his cheeks, one more than the other, and now are on his forehead and in his eyebrows too. We have been through baby acne at 1 month (he is over 2 months now) so it isn't that, and it isn't cradle cap either, which he did get and I treated it in a day with the oil and it hasn't come back. My diet is excellent and I get lots of essential fatty acids. What am I missing? Anyone have any experience with this, or any thoughts, I'd much appreciate it! Thanks, Debbie deb Closed until January 31st for maternity leave http://www.debrasrhapsody.com
Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Glad to hear all is going well When JJ was a wee little baby (he is almost 23 months now *sniffle*) he'd get some dry skin patches and I'd put Virgin Coconut Oil on them. It didn't irritate his skin any further, made him nice and soft and smell like a coconut - yummy baby <grinz> *Smile* Chris (list mom) Green Tea Seed Oil - Oooh It's So Good http://www.alittleolfactory.com <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/> Debra McDuffee [deb] Hi Everyone, It's me again, crazy new mom! Guest guest
I hate cradle crap! Glad you were able to get rid of it. It SOUNDS a bit like infant eczema, but if it is only dry skin, I wouldn't confuse the issue too much by putting a combination of stuff on his face, I'd stick to something simple like olive oil only, or maybe even a little straight jojoba. If it doesn't clear up and keeps spreading, I'd go back to the doc and get it re-evaluated. Cheers! Guest guest
He has patches which I thought were eczema, but the pediatrician says it is just dry skin and that I should moisturize ---------------------------- Hello Debbie, I would try using unrefined shea...nothing else unless a little calendula refined oil is beaten in. No essential oils (though it pains me to say that!) I'm getting remarkable results when this treatment is used for psoriasis, eczema, dry skin etc. Nerys Natural Skincare on-line workshops www.neryspurchon.com
