Guest guest
Hi all, I don't want to be remiss in thanking everyone who offered help to me. I did print out the labels on Thursday for some of the Excel data that was on disk. I put it through a Microsoft Word Mail Merge. It worked beautifully and will suffice until I get everything into a database. I do still need to do the data entry for the thousands of names only stored on paper (geesh!) Since I have worked with Microsoft Works for about 7 years and it is only $50, I will go with purchasing Works for the company. Access is $200 and I have no hands-on with it... don't know of any benefit it would provide over Works. I also found out that they are still manufacturing Works. I thought they stopped once Access came on the scene. I've got a greater understanding of Excel and Access now though --and it helps so much to have that confidence of stable knowledge behind one. Laura, I'm saving your email... if I get Access for myself I will be a pro. I don't have an updated version of Excel on my home computer and it sounds like Access is Works and Excel all bundled up in one program. I like the sound of that! Rhavda, thank you also. Looks like I have a lot to learn about Excel. I had no idea that there was so much that could be done with it! Andrea
Guest guest
Hi Andrea, Could I ask if the labels you used were the Avery with the sticky backs? I've had a couple boxes of these for years that I got to print out for bottles of tinctures, etc., but could never learn how to do it. I am soon going to get and install the programs you mentioned from Microsoft, and I wondered how you were able to make each label different and have them centered on the label. I have tried following the instructions that come with the labels when I just had Works, but it didn't seem to work for me. Thanks, Sandra
