Hi Michelle,

I found that when I was in Colorado (a climate that is high, dry, with

hot summers & cold winters) Sage and Yarrow were two herbs that grew

REALLY well for me!

Now I'm getting used to living in the (new to me) subtropical rainforest

type climate of the Houston, TX area and trying to figure out what grows

well here ... seems like A LOT grows well here - including some really

wacky, BIG bugs (good thing I like to take bug pictures ;) *lol*

<snipped> Your herb gardens sound lovely. I SO enjoyed my herb gardens

of the

past, but haven't yet attempted one here in Arizona. This climate is

new to me and totally different than any I've lived in before. Once I

have the time though, it will be fun to discover which herbs grow

well in this very dry, hot zone.

Welcome to the group Fran!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for those tips!

I have several beautiful sage bushes in my yard and I do see yarrow

growing everywhere. I also love my aloe vera which has taken over the

side of my house.

I remember those tropical bugs well from living on Maui. Gecko's

become like family " pets " and the spiders are the size of golf balls!

I think I'd choose those over rattlesnakes and scorpions. At least on

Maui there was nothing poisonous.

Thanks again,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I used to live on Oahu....and you're absolutely right! I had a gecko

'friend' that lived behind my golf bag in my bedroom. LOL Some of the bugs

over there were unreal. HUGE bugs. <shiver> But I have to agree with

you....I'd certainly choose those over a snake any day. ;)

Hi Candy,

I was reflecting more on those friendly little gecko's yesterday. We

actually named them, they were so much a part of our home! Cute

little guys ;-)
