Guest guest
Hey Carol This is just my opinion and I'm a very strange person, so you'll know where this is coming from. I believe that during a crisis, humour is actually necessary. More so than during the " good times " or even the daily grind. We get so weighed down with the loss of lives and the disaster that is occuring that levity is actually a survival mechanism. It lifts our spirits and enables us to continue on. Indeed, you fill find a lot of " black humour " during wakes, funerals, in hospitals etc. Like I said before, it's a survival mech. So I say, keep posting your jokes. I bet I'm not the only one who appreciates them. Cheers! But not everybody shares this sense of humour. My Mom used to get upset because Dad and I would crack a joke in the middle of some serious drama. Guest guest
Ien, I agree with you, humor is important , even in bad and tragic times. However, it depends on WHAT is said and sometime on HOW... Don't' get me wrong, my sorry situation is NOTHING compare to what the people in Asia and Scandinavian countries are going through. But yesterday I found out that the ball of my femur has hair line cracks and bone chips, something that I've been running around with for 3 years since I broke my hip, no wonder the recovery was so painful and did not seem to progress..than last Friday I fell and hit my tailbone very hard, so I've been the joke of many ' Butt' jokes.. And that is fine with me, although it hurts my tailbone when I laugh When my friend Lori's son died, she played the piano at the lunch after the funeral and cracked jokes, some people where aghast, but it's what helped her through it and than 3 years later when my son died, it was her I turned to, I needed her humor but also knew how her soul suffered. Sometimes you just have to say " To h..l with what other people think " .., but I am not for hurting other people feeling's...to me there is a difference. Guest guest
joke from husband going wife for sigmoidoscopy. My friend provided a joke himself: When his good friend had the procedure, he asked his doctor what he told people he did for a living. The doctor said, I tell them, " I look up old friends. Guest guest
Of course, humor should never be used in a hurtful manner, or when you know the other party will be offended! I told a small joke when I did my Dad's eulogy. He was really good at it so it was totally in his spirit! Ien in the Kootenays ******************************* Stop. Breathe.
