Guest guest
I haven't read the list in awhile but wanted to post this..... Hello everyone and Happy New Year!! I haven't been on the computer much since the 22nd of December. I just thought I would share this en light on the recent Tsunami Disaster. Our family has had many discussions at the dinner table these past days(even as our grandson was throwing food all over the floor, he's 16 months) about all the people lost and killed in this horrific Tsunami. Many lost everything!!! We decided as a family that if something like this ever happened to the Florida coast and the entire Gulf coast that we too would want help. We packed a huge box with fresh water, blankets, used clothing, toothbrushes, flashlight, pots and pans, lighters, reading glasses and writing paper. Also I sent 12LBS of Lavender soap. The disease and and rotting bodies have made for unclean water and unsanitary conditions. We see this as our family helping another or maybe more if the RED CROSS splits up the box. We have also decided to ask the patrons of our restaurant to donate 3 canned goods or non-perishable items and they will receive a free topping on their pizza. My husband and I thought that teaching the value of giving in this way is something our kids will always remember and hopefully can teach their children one day. It was a family project and allot of talk, ideas, and consideration went into what would go into the box. It grew everyday for the past week or so and is now ready to be shipped tomorrow. We will ship it to our local RED CROSS with a list of everything and what the box is intended for. I urge all of you to consider a small donation of anything useful and send it to your local RED CROSS or UNICEF. If we all pitch in it will make a difference for the millions of displaced people/families in ASIA! ANYTHING HELPS!! No matter how big or small! Wishing Everyone a Peaceful New Year, Michele Seretis and Family http://www.thesoapgardenboutique.com
Guest guest
Here in Canada, we have been encouraged to give cash donations, due to the costs of shipping this stuff to Asia. I think what you and your family have done is wonderful. The kids and I gave a donation through Amazon.ca, as the Canadian Red Cross's web site is always down, think it crashes due to overuse.. Anyway, I think your doing a wonderful thing... Carol
