Guest guest
Afternoon all, Debra, this remedy is one of the old-fashioned ones. It is not only used on humans, but cows with a mastitus problem. Get pure (organic if possible) apple cider vinegar. take one dessert-spoon of ACV and one of honey and mix in a tumbler of water. Have a glass of this for each meal. It is also brilliant for strengthening bones after a break. Regards Merinda If all else fails, cry! Find local movie times and trailers on Movies. Guest guest
Dear Merinda, Do you think that the apple cider vinegar with honey and water would also help strenghten advanced osteophorsis (pardon the spelling but I'm not near my dictionary)? I am looking for something to help my Mom and this would be something that I could get her to take without a problem. I'm not looking for a miracle but something that will help her quality of life and strenghten her back. Thanks, Rhavda >Afternoon all, > Debra, this remedy is one of the old-fashioned ones. Guest guest
Rhavda, I do have osteoporosis and it takes a lot to gain ground on bone mass again. Just ACV is not going ot do it. Neither are tums. Vit.D, with C, magnesium and a calcium that is not calcite citrate, together with exercise can help further thinning of the bones. Figs, dark green veggies, kale are good calcium sources, so is oat straw. But the body has to have the Vit.D uptake, or no calcium supplements will go anywhere... Bonemass is set in your 20ties, it thins for women after 35, and drastically during menopause and boneloss is severe within 5 years of menopause, especially in the hip and arms. Coffee, sodas, nicotine will accelerate the process. C-M
Guest guest
Dear C-M, Thank you for the information on osteoporosis. Mom is bent in half with it. I have read just about everything available on osteoporosis and tried many of the things that you suggest. I just thought that if the acv worked as a stop-gap measure then I would try that also. Mother was 6 ft. tall and did heavy farm work as a young person and did her back in. My main problem with her is getting her to get up and getting her to exercise and that is almost fruitless so I've just thrown up my hands and screamed silently. I believe if she would just try to move and exercise even a little that she would be so much better off. Her diet is good. When she came to live with us I completely changed her to a heart-healthy diet. However, she still gets her bathing lady to " sneak " her in junk food every so often. Mom can be a real hoot when she is having a good day but with each day I am loosing her more and more to her Alzheimer's and that is sad. My mom used to be able to read many books but now is only able to follow her newspaper and even forgets much of what she has read. I made a tincture for her about a year or so ago and I have had success in helping her focus and regain a little of her attention span. I know that I couldn't have made this tincture without my knowledge of herbs and essential oils. I looked at the Alzheimer's and asked some hard questions to myself and then set out to find answers. I know that it will be one of us to find an answer to Alzheimer's because we (all of us who have relatives and loved ones with Alzheimer's) have a vested interest in helping our loved ones to live the best quality of life that we can help them to attain. My formula for Mom works at this time for her and I hope that it continues to do so but I know that I will need to modify and change it as her problems increase. We live day to day and it is one of the reasons that I am looking for new avenues in our aromatherapy profession. None of us know when we will stumble, by the Grace of God, onto a cure or something else that will help someone else. We are so lucky to have this forum here. I know that dealing with my mother's problems has taught me great patience and to look at things from a totally different viewpoint. I have become calmer and more mellow where in the past I would take on a cause. Today I want to help heal and bridge the vast canyons that exist and be a diplomat. I take one day at a time and learn what I can and then share that information with others. Thank you, again Christa, for your response. It's good to know that you are out there. Also, thank you Chris for this forum to express our opinions so that we have to think. Love, Rhavda P.S. I made up an oatstraw tincture that I use in my mom's formula along with rose, heli, melissa, rosemary, sage, goto kola, and several other herbs. I think that oatstraw is one of the best herbs out there for bone/calcium problems. Twenty-one plus years ago it helped me to get rid of corporal tunnell in both wrists. Ever since that time I always have on hand oatstraw tea, oatstraw tincture, and oatstraw aged herbal infused oil to use as needed. I wouldn't be without it nor magnesium. >Rhavda, > I do have osteoporosis and it takes a lot to gain ground on bone mass >again. >Just ACV is not going ot do it. >Neither are tums. >Vit.D, with C, magnesium and a calcium that is not calcite citrate, >together with exercise can help further thinning of the bones. Guest guest
Dear Rhavda, C-M sure is right about us finding something on day to take care of some real problems. I also have osteoporosis, I was told its mostly us skinny smokers that end up with it. Buy then I also have rheumatoid, for myself I never really try to find anything. Do keep busy with my Therapy dog. She is a 72 lb pit. Have kept busy with all her training. On the days she goes for her visits, I take a toll. But it so worth it to see the happiness she bring to people living in nursing homes that love dogs. My husband years ago was having a heart attack. Getting a ambulance here was a joke then. But I had spent a lot of time finding oils good for the heart. I quickly went to my workroom. Had my little peice of paper with many oils written down. Its something I have no idea what I put in, the one that stands out in my mind is the Black Pepper. (Sorry Martin) I went against the rules on this one. I took it neat, rubbed a line across is chest and then his back. Oh course I hear that stinks. Then he said the pain is gone. He no longer cpmplains when I bring out the defuser to put next to him. Plus thankfully last month he finally went through 2 heart surgerys. He is finally watching his diet better. Also years ago, my father after being so close to death, went into a nursing home after he got out of the hospital. Not his noemal, I was tolr to take him to a different one as his wouldn't admit him. He wouldn't do anything. I spent about 5 hours a day there. I finally asked if I could make him something. As a safety factor, I used a plug in defuser under his bed. My heart went into those blends. I had the daytime, plus one for night. Labled the bottles with directions for the nurses to follow. Plus I showed a few how to use it. It was shocking at how fast it started to work. By the 3rd day he was talking about going home. Instead I said he could come and live with us. He agreed and started therapy. Came home a couple weeks later. He is still alive now, hes now 92. Good Luck to you with your mom. I also believe it the love we put into what we are making that makes the difference. Hugs Nancy Dear C-M, Thank you for the information on osteoporosis. Mom is bent in half with it.
