Hey folks,

I just wanted to share this book title with you all: " Ultra-Prevention, The

6-week Plan that will make you healthy for Life " by Mark Hyman, MD and Mark

Liponis, MD.

My neighbor loaned this to me and it's turning out to be a really

interesting book. Here are two doctors that, through their own health

experiences, have turned to a combination of conventional and alternative

medicine. They talk about how our health care system is merely a band-aid

approach to most chronic problems and how most drugs and treatments can even

contribute to and make those chronic problems worse.

I mention this because the book has already touched on many subjects that

have been on this list lately....excessive estrogen and menopause symptoms,

antibiotic usage and side effects, etc.

I've only just started it, but it's kind of like a breath of fresh air,

knowing you aren't alone with your beliefs and they give the data to back up

their claims.

The only thing I have a problem with is that they are co-directors at Canyon

Ranch, a health " resort " in the Berkshires. (Canyon Ranch also has a resort

in Tuscon, AZ.) That side of the coin, IMO, is a kind of " movie-star, "

Club-Med type treatment because it seems only people with money can afford

their treatment and unfortunately, I'd venture to guess that most of the

population is either without health insurance or, if you're like me, you're

basically working just for the benefits to pay for the insurance you need

that dictates how, when and where you obtain your healthcare anyway...kind

of a Catch 22. :-(

But anyway, I thought I'd pass that along. The book is good and will really

open your eyes to our current health care system, the diagnoses that

doctors' come up and the reasons behind some of them as well as the

treatments and drugs they prescribe.

HTH someone,

Kelly
