Guest guest
I don't know if any of you saw this on the national news, but I know the other people in Missouri saw this..In the town of Skidmore (just a few miles from my place) there was a pregnant woman murdered and her unborn child cut out of her womb. The child is only 8 months along (36 weeks) and everyone was concerned for the welfare and safety of the baby. On our way home from the airport, we heard there has been an arrest and the baby is safe and is in a hospital now and has been re-united with her father. This is terribly sad for all of us; in our part of the country, you know everybody, even if they are in a neighboring town, or so on. You either work with somebody or are related to them. My hubby has relatives all over north west MO and so do I...and in this case, the poor girl that was murdered and her husband are well known to my oldest daughter's boyfriend (the one who is supposed to pop the question any time...he said he is waiting for the " right moment " . I told him to get on with it...I want GRANDKIDS! Anyway, he is a super guy and he is really broken up by this tragedy. He works with the father and it has hit a lot of people hard around here. What we know is that a woman in Kansas pretended to be pregnant to her husband and family, and had made an aquaintance with the young mother and 24 hours ago she told her husband she had gone into early labor. Then she shows up with this new baby. Thanks to the Amber Alert system and the coordinated efforts of the law officials here, the FBI and the Sheriff tracked down this fake mommy and found the baby. She told her family she was pregnant, found someone near term, and then killed the mother and took the baby for her own. We are all so grateful and relieved the baby is ok and so sad for the grieving father and family. This poor girl was well-liked and this was her first baby and they were so excited about the pending birth. And now this. Everyone around here is pitching in and an account is being set up for donations to help with the expenses...funeral, burial, etc. Already all kinds of things are pouring in. It happens around here...someone has trouble, the whole area will pitch in and help. We are still getting details as they come in, and it really hit us hard..my nephew is expecting his first baby to be born any time now (no, he is not doing the birth...you know what I mean!) and we all think the same thing...what if it had been her? There are so many sick people out there. On a better note...my daughter is home and it was the greatest thing in the world to see her walk out of that gate and to hug her again! She is tickled pink to be home again, and the first thing she did was to go check her car out...at her age, that is the most important thing! She can't wait to get in it and drive around ALONE! She said it is so good to actually be alone and not surrounded by other members of her flight, etc. You other military people know what she means by that, I'm sure. Yes, Butch, she is at the Presidio at Monterey Bay. She is learning Korean, and I guess in a way, we are too. Most of the time it is the only way to understand her, by learning it in self-defense! Then, unless things change, she is supposed to be at Offutt AFB, then to Kadena. She had to bring a ton of books with her because even though she is on leave, she has all this homework to do. She's young and I'm sure she will be able to fit that in while she is busy seeing her friends, checking out old boyfriends, seeing all the relatives, and driving her car. Oh to be that age again! Well better go. One of our cats is trying to make a " nest " in the Christmas Tree again. Talk to you all later, Cherry
