Guest guest
Hi everybody...I have returned to the land of the living, mostly, after fighting off the mom of all sinus infections. It has really hit hard around here and I am not the only one laid up with it. I have been diffusing different oils to help and so far have been able to keep from taking any antibiotics. Today I feel like I might live after all, and so hopefully am on the way to getting better. I have heard that nettles and thyme are good to take but I am not sure if it is as an tea or if it is as essential oils. Does anyone know more about those herbs in this case? I also heard lobelia is good for chest colds and I know elecampane (sp?) is good for that but I am not sure of the method or dose. I know allegies triggered this sinus episode and I also have been coughing my head off and I would like to try those herbs but I want to know more about it. My daughter is coming home tonight! My hubby has really gone out of his way to fix up her room (you know how it is, when the kids move out, their rooms end up being used for other things.). In my youngest daughter's case, her old room is filled up with all her stuff from her old apartment. When she left for the military, she had been living in her own place and had all this stuff, and it ended up at our place. So hubby (he and I have way different ideas on organization) has taken advantage of my bout with the sinuses and fixed up her room his way. While I have been in bed dying (at least that is what it feels like) he has been upstairs putting stuff who knows where and doing who knows what. Oh well. At least my daughter can actually get into her room and sleep in her own bed and watch her own tv and she has room to move around. Someday I will find where he has put everything, but I am not going to worry about that right now. I am grateful he did all that so I am not complaining. He also took every string of colored lights he could find and has them all over the place. Looks like the North Pole set up quarters here this year. He is having fun and is doing this for Ashlee when she comes home. I got her recent accomplishments mixed up on my other posts..she is now Senior Squad Leader and is in charge of all incoming new airmen to that post. There have been a lot coming in each cycle so recruitments must be up. She has more authority now and more duties and I don't know how she does it with her training she has to do along with all this. She is in training to be a Linguist and it takes about two years to train for that. One of the longest tech schools for Airmen. Plus she has all this other training do to, survival, wilderness, water, and I don't know what else. I have to give her credit. It takes guts and determination to do all this and we are just busting our buttons we are so proud. I do want to say this..to all the other military mothers and fathers and other members involved with the military here...Bless each and every one of you...all of you are in my prayers and I am so grateful you are all here! I have been reading all your posts in the archives and they have done me worlds of good. I know I am in good company with you wonderful people. There are a lot of you who are going through or have gone through similar experiences to ours and you have been a great help to this new military mom (well, not so new, it's almost a year since she went in, since March, but it takes a while to adjust to all this). Saskia, Rita, Anita and Pam...thank you for your messages. I have taken your suggestions and your encouragements have helped me a lot. Rita, especially...your military experiences make me proud to be part of this with you. Butch..thank you so very much for your encouragement, also. Your company is outstanding and your people are the best! Now I am going to drag this aching old body away from the computer and get going on those creams I want to make. I am hoping to have some hand creams made for Christmas and if my sinuses will ever open up maybe I can even smell what I am making. Take care all of you and will talk to you later...
