Guest guest
Okay. I thought I was just going to be using an easy PayPal cart system. Do not ask me how but somehow I was talked into osCommerce which is supposed to be user friendly. A main part of the problem was that my host told me (and I have an e-mail to prove it) that they would totally help me upload my cart. Apparently as clear as I was - telling them in my e-mail that I need someone to tell me the exact steps to load my products not just the software - they were not. Further, I thought osCommerce was just a different tool to put on my 'shopping' page at my site. Well, here I am 7 weeks after I started this odyssey and my shopping cart is back to its old PayPal and I am scratching my head wondering why I am paying for a product I'm not using (upgraded my previously free website service). Further my web mistress - Chris Cheedie - really gave me a lot of her time when she didn't have to in trying to help me out of a mess she didn't have anything to do with (and I thank her profusely and highly recommend her to everyone here). Unfortunately she does not know osCommerce. She tried and took a look but even she got scared of the time it would take to learn it and in all fairness she's already gone above and beyond to help. My old PayPal cart is back up but in the process my website has had other changes that wound up being undone in addition to the old PayPal cart not being current. This is especially important right now as all of my pricing has changed. So, this e-mail is to ask if anyone can walk me through osCommerce. I have absolutely NO CODING BACKGROUND at all. AND, would anyone be able to make some quick adjustments to my PayPal cart or walk me through my host's programming? I really am basically tired of paying and paying and (this part is my pity party) it's the holidays and I really am feeling guilty for not spending more time with my family and for spending on this project rather on some of the gifts that I'd planned on getting for them (here goes the credit card that I was so proud of having paid off). I'm sure that most people have gone down that road before. I'm so absolutely confused as I now realize that this cart is a completely 'outside' page that is not actually part of my webpage but will have to be incorporated - more coding to fix it so it looks like the rest of my site...sigh. Even more aggravating than that is the agita this is causing me...someone who is used to doing her own darn stuff or being wise enough to not make a move until she has everything mapped out and can do it herself. I got blown off course completely on this one and that is a very discombobulating feeling and not a happy place to be and not a place I ever want to go back to. I hate the wishy-washiness of my Cancer sign sometimes. Probably why I am always trying to stuff/stomp it down to keep it in check. I would be happy to either learn osCommerce OR learn how to maintain my own website using my current host's coding. My host is Doteasy - whom I have now christened Noteasy. I have several midwives, doulas and birth educators who have been anxiously awaiting this service. I have been anxiously awaiting this service!! We are a very committed group of birth care providers who have recently come together to make homebirth - which is alegal in this state - more than an option. We want it to be the obvious option. I was able to find a way to have even better wholesale and retail prices than I had before. However, the stock is not doing anyone any good as it cannot be presented! Sigh. I need this site as we care providers have completed our end of year get togethers and our next won't be until March when Ina May comes to town. All I need is to change my homepage, fix my shopping cart and remove a couple of links on the site. TIA for any help anyone can give me.
