Guest guest
Hi! Actually, I can't take credit for > The society as a whole could be helped immensely by people STAYING AT HOME when they are sick and keeping their sick kids OUT of public. Another thing is hand washing. Wash frequently with regular soap and warm water. Use paper towels. It kills me that people will NOT wash their hands! but I did 'quote' it in my little rant. <bg> I believe proper handwashing is crucial...and will continue to try to instill this *as a matter of course* in my family. It *is* a fight, to be sure! LOL > The trouble of course is that staying at home is considered a luxury, or shirking, and a child home with a bad cold is easier said than done in a family where all adult members work out of the home. I was brought up in a 'you are NEVER sick enough to stay home' household...both parents worked 'outside' jobs. Not all jobs offer sick pay...so you have more incentive to keep working to put food on the table than you do to lie at home for a few days. I have no clue how this could be changed...so that our nation could, by habit of staying home from work when sick, become healthier by spreading fewer germs and consequently...miss fewer days of work. A lot of attitudes will have to change. I do *try* to stay home when I am sick, and I stay home with the kids when they are sick. We don't go to church or school or visiting if we have anything yucky coming from anywhere at all. I sure wish others felt the same...because when we do go 'out' healthy...all it takes is one sick kid around my babies and a couple of days later they've got something. Some blame it on our lack of exposure to lots of other kids and germs...claiming we'd build up more resistance if the kids were in daycare. <shrugs> Anyhow...thanks for the encouragement! Have a wonderful day! Lisa

I am so with you on the handwashing! When I was still a Home Support worker we actually had several trainings devoted entirely to habdwashing. Keep fighting the good fight!
