Guest guest
I just wanted to thank all of you for your kind words and thoughts and e-hugs for my grand ole lady Misty - and thank you Butch for the RB poem...it tugged at my heart and brought tears to my eyes, but I can see her standing at the other side...carefully watching to see when I will come and slip her halter back on for our walk down the road. Just for my own sake....it helps when you talk :-)...and maybe for some one else out there....Misty was one of my 'rescue' horses - I've had 3 this year....and all 3 are at the rainbow bridge....one was a beautiful golden palomino mare named Honey - she was due to foal 3 weeks before she came here - but the owner had neglected her foot so badly that it was a horrible mess and was going to put her down - I took her in, and tried everything in my medical bag to help heal that foot - it didn't work - and while she was only here >> 2 1/2 <<< weeks, the last day, the day we decided she could not go on (she couldn't get up any longer, was in def pain despite the heavy medication she was on) and the vet (who came out almost every 2 days!) and I stood outside the barn and agreed....we would have to let her go - she decided to present us with a gorgeous dark palomino little boy.....he was premature, gasping for air, but he was alive...momma and baby bonded, said hello...and goodbye....and Honey went on to the Rainbow Bridge and baby came into my house....he tried so hard to make it...he tried for 3 days...and then gave up.... and now Misty .... a rescue that was 400 lbs underweight when I bought her from the 'previous owner' ... sigh....who knew that underneath that skinny frame was an animal that could take you to first place, had a stop and spin on her that some would die for...that could go out on a trail and never unseat you or make you afraid...who was such a wonderful babysitter.....when she filled out and was healthy again...she was a site to behold.....truly a grand ole lady. and one other thing I want to mention ... please, please......for those of you that really do love animals (and there are so many of you) always check things out BEFORE you call and 'report' someone - always check out your facts.... in the Honey episode.... someone saw my pleas for help on a newsgroup and decided to take matters into their own hands and 'save' this mare - fortunately for me, the attending vet was THE vet at the humane society ... she was here every other day almost and was in constant contact with me concerning this situation... So please, it is good to 'act' .. but not 're-act' ... again, thank you all for your warm thoughts and e-hugs! Guest guest
And I saw this one because I have been pulling for Misty and waiting to know how she is. Pam, I am so very sorry for your hurt and loss right now. On top of that what you were put through by a well meaning person during this time. All of it at once...... Misty isn't just waiting at the rainbow bridge. She's in your heart and your in hers. A very warm embrace and I cry with you, Dale
Guest guest
Dear Pam, My heart goes out to you. As a animal lover myself, I can understand your grief and pain. Thank You for being one of the good people that do rescue animals. There are so many in rescue centers that just need love and care.
