Guest guest
Can someone tell me what khella and manuka essential oils are? Someone on the list said she used them for making an inhalant. I have a friend who has problems with her sinuses and I was hoping to make the blend to help her out. Kathy
Guest guest
Manuka is a tree from Leptospermum ericoides x New Zealand Australia. The *oil* has no known traditional uses because the natives did not know how to produce it. The vast majority of the hype on this oil is based on testing of Manuka honey which is good stuff. There are somes tests on the antibacterial actions of the oil, but no one has tested it for skin safety. Using it in inhalants may be fine, but I would rather stick to oils we know work and we know are safe. Khella oil is made from Ammi visnaga. Another oil whose claimed uses are totally based on the plants traditional use as a herbal medicine. This oil may not be safe on the skin because the plant is known to contain skin sensitising chemicals. If those are destroyed with distillation no one knows and no safety testing has occured. It is another one of those oils in aromatherapy that are promoted based on the writings and teachings of those who weave fairy tales. Guest guest
Thanks for the info Martin...I knew I could count on the members of this list to come through. Guess I'll have to try something else for her sinus trouble. Kathy - aromamedical2003 12/6/2004 6:18:16 AM Re: Looking for info Manuka is a tree from Leptospermum ericoides x New Zealand Australia.
