Guest guest
Hey Sevi, > Merhaba Butchcugum, Hey y'all .. " Sevi " means " Love " or " Affection. " Its archaic but a common name here .. as is " Gul " and hundreds of derivities of " Gul " and " Gul " means .. " Rose " and " Smile. A beautiful language Turkish. >> Done and done .. count on it. I've considered selling it from my >> store in Maryland .. but like the Rose Petal Jam it would be more >> of a hassle than a profit maker .. still makes folks smile though. > I hear you. In deed, you will make me smile, thank you Butch. Bir sey degil. > So when are you coming back? LOL :-) Early July .. To attend my High School Reunion and to act like the Ol' Boll Weevil .. gonna be looking fer a home. >> Understood .. I eat a lot of it. Tis Pistachio Nut Butter she >> writes about .. like Peanut Butter > Addition to description above -- it is pure pistachio, crushed and > mixed with sugar/honey (I think), when I got it, they made bite size > pieces of it. It is not sticky, like PB, it is more firm. Tastes so > good, if you like Pistachios! True it is .. I gave the closest translation I could to " ezme " as most Americans can't imagine what it is. ;-) >> Tis the best one around this list .. > That is the reason, I keep coming back! Good show. >> and as Sue Martin .. the Lavender Cat .. is the resident expert of >> Katz .. you are the resident expert on Dawgs .. so welcome you are >> again .. we missed you. :-) > Thank you much! Hi Sue! Fer'shur. >> And you .. ve tekrar hos geldiniz! > Hosbuldum Hawhawhaw .. can't pass up commenting on this. Sevi's comment, above, is correct Turkish grammar .. but it is not spoken Turkish. Took me a long time to differentiate. I said .. literally, " I found pleasure in your return. " And she said .. literally, I (also) found pleasure. " And its correct grammar as the " dum " is past tense for " I did " .. but in spoken Turkish .. she would have said .. " Hos bulduk, " which is .. " we found pleasure " . And just last night I tried to help a young Turkish lady explain to her British husband why there were exceptions to certain grammar rules in spoken Turkish. I told them there were two choices .. one was that all Turks carried a frog in their pocket so they could say " we " instead of " me " when they enjoyed something .. and the other was .. because that's the way my Grandpa said it. ;-) >> Evet .. now that I have another way to reply to messages .. I'll >> get back with you. > Thanks, sounds great! Done .. but might be tomorrow. >> PS # 2: When Martin visited here it was difficult to walk an entire >> block without stopping cause he wanted to visit each pastry shop >> and sample the wares. They'd put a portion of 4-5 different pastries on his plate and the Ol' Troll would inhale them like a Biscuit Hound. > LOL, sounds like something I'd do if I were there - btw, when did > Martin visit Turkey? June 2000 .. we did a Round Robin of the Rose Fields of Isparta and some of the ancient cities on the Med .. where we find wild aromatic plants growing alongside marble columns placed their 2,500 years or more ago. Did the Tomb of King Midas and lots of other places. As many folks know .. the history of Turkey is written in thousands of years .. in some cases .. like Catalhoyuk and a few other ancient cities .. its written in tens of thousands of years. The Anatolian Plains are known as the Cradle of Civilization. He wrote this for the Winter 2000 edition of the magazine " Aromatica " http://www.aromamedical.com/articles/rosedistillation.htm > I did not know that he had a sweet tooth as well? Even Grouchy Old Trolls can a sweet tooth. ;-) > Glad to see that he enjoyed some of my fav pastries etc. and hope he > had a good stay. He had a good stay .. fell in love with the cave homes in Cappadochia, the hospitality of the people .. and the very exotic, intelligent and lovely ladies that we have no shortage of here. ;-) > Be well, > Sevi Thankee .. and you .. and y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
