No question about that. But it was also a matter of not ever having

been exposed to Small Pox .. or vaccinations. Relatively speaking,

the American Indians of the Northwest and Southwest were far more

hygenic than the American trappers and traders and such .. but they

had no immunity to certain diseases so exposure to Small Pox almost

eliminated total tribal groups.

True it is .. during the Civil War folks in the South didn't have a

great lifestyle for sure. For that matter, neither did those who

lived in the ghettos of the North.

Nor I .. not a word. The difference is that this UN Medical Team was

not a true UN instrumentality .. they were more like Doctors Without

Borders .. medical personnel contracted by the UN to perform certain

functions in Somalia .. and a dedicated bunch they were.
