Guest guest
I know this question wasn't directed at me, but I have an opinion on the matter! My first and foremost problem with the flu shot or vaccines in general is that they are only for one specific type of flu bug (variant) there are about 50,000 strains of the flu virus and it mutates constantly. When one is vaccinated against " the flu " it only covers a handful of the variants. Soooooo just because you have taken the shot does NOT in any way guarantee that you will not become ill from another strain of the virus. Taken straight out of the PDR, 200 edition. It is a huge annual money maker $15 bucks a pop, times how many ever million per year. This also from the PDR - oh that golden book from the great medical establishment - it is grown in eggs containing chicken embryos, it contains thimerosal (a mercury derived preservative - YES, even now, check the cdc site, if you don't belive me), it contains natural dry rubber latex (wonder why we are so " latex " intolerant of late?), in addition, " respiratory disease after vaccination is coincidental and unrelated to influenza vaccination " - yeah whatever - As far as side effects: fever, malaize, myalgia, and other systemic symptoms can occur following vaccination. Immediate - presumably allergic reactions (hives, allergic asthma, systemic anaphylaxis, and angioedema) rarely occur (but it does not give the efficacy). During the 1976 Flu season, the vaccine was related to increased frequency of Guillain - Barre' syndrome. Neurological disorders temporarlly associated with influenza vaccination, such as encephalopathy (go look up " mad cow disease " for BSE) , optic neuritis/neuropathy, partial facial paralysis and brachial plexus neuropathy have been reported. This was reported fron as little as 2 hours to 2 weeks post vaccination. The virus is killed with formaldehyde, it is concentrated and purified in a linear sucrose density gradient soulation using a continuous flow centrifuge. The viurs is then chemically disrupted using Polyethylene Glycol p-isooctylphenyl Ether, producing a " split antigen " . Itis then further purified by chemical means and suspended in a phosphate - buffered isotonic sodium chloride solution. Thimersal is added as a preservative and gelatin as a stabilizer. And here I go with my politics - the " frenzy " over the flu vaccine shortage is just an attempt to keep the American public off balance as to the REAL problems that the United States, as a people, are facing. We also have the frenzy over the " war on drugs " " war on terror " " oil prices, " etc. When is the last time you heard REAL news reported by jounalists who were not govererned by the media moguls? All the " news " on ALL the stations is the same! Ridiculous! Plus if the gov't keeps screaming about the flu vaccine shortage, maybe folks would be less inclined to sue the vaccine makers - they can't make any money if people do that! That is why we NOW have a $250,000 limit on vaccine manufacturer liability. So what if you are harmed or your kid dies, not the vaccine makers fault! Here's your $250,000.00 That is what the lives of the American public are worth. Just my .02, of course. Jill Mc. Guest guest
Wow Jill, Thanks for the info about the flu vaccine. I had no idea. I knew about the egg thing but after reading all this, it sounds like one might get sicker from the shot than the flu. Maybe thats why I've never felt the need to get one. Maybe the flu shots have a " placebo " effect on the public in general -- If I get my flu shot I won't get sick -- and therefore they are less likely too.
