Guest guest
Hey Eva, There was no previous thread on this... I did mention it to Chris earlier today but that was pretty much it (and one other). Last night my Hunny Bunny was sitting on me exchanging insults with his elder brother and threw his head on me, hit me fake tooth and me nose at the same time. Tooth hurt so bad I didn't notice the nose. In other words, no blood gushing, no giant crack... but this morning it was VERY painful and swollen. I have two lumps on me nose. IF it is indeed broken it's just a hairline fracture. Right now it looks crooked due to the swelling. Once that goes down I will AT THE MOST have an interesting bump on my nose. It's one of those things that are painful but not worth going to bother the doctors about. Ain't a whole lot they can do about it anyway. So I'm putting a warm woobey on it (YES< YES! I know it's supposed to be cold for the swelling, but I HATE cold and warm eases the pain. If it starts swelling again, then I'll have to stop, but for now... lovely lovely heat... remind me, another use for a woobey! ROFLMAO!), it eases the headache that the pain has engendered (small headache, not worth taking anything for) and feels comforting. I can't wear me glasses though, hurts too much. I always KNEW one of these kids were going to break that nose. Small children lead with their heads and one always gets battered by them when they are small, Hunny bunny finally did what the other three could't do. ROFLMAO! I have some Green Gloop that Christa Maria sent me a while back for the kids, I swiped a bit of it. Doesn't smell half bad either. Thanks CM. For the rest, it's just the Woobey. I'm a minimalist I guess. And that's the story of the Schnoze. Just another in a list of war wounds in the battlefield of parenting! ROFLMAO! Cheers! Guest guest
Yikes, Queenie... Those kids will get the better of you yet... In Germany when someone breaks a nose, the first thing is that someone yells for two large knives. That would scare your kids.. But the flatbladed large knives, with their FLAT side , of course!, shapes the nose back and the steel takes out the heat, acting like ice.. When my son was just 6 month old, he fell off the changing table. I was petrified, his face looked smooshed in and I called my best friend , also German who was a baby nurse. She came running into the house telling my husband to get out two large knifes with large blades. ( My husband wasn't so sure she wasn't about to kill me ). But she took those knives and shaped his face back. NO black bruise, no swelling.... BUT, this has do be done immediately. Nose is mainly cartilage and when working on it right away with ice can be set OK. A broken nose can spell breathing problems for later life, please Kathleen, do not ignore this... Guest guest
WOW, that is an interesting story for sure. I would have bee petrified as well! It is a reminder that there are things better than modern medicine, as this technique seems relatively painless and is a lot less annoying than those nose splints we put on folks now. Kathleen, Christa Maria is so right about the breathing issues too. I have known many friends over the years who are plagued by the after effects of broken noses, not the least of which is a snoring problem that won't quit. Take care and I am sorry about your mishap. Luckily, your tooth did not get knocked out as well!!
