Guest guest
You know my bud on this list saved me from this stuff this weekend. My son was on the computer and was hitting some sites with games on them. I went on right after him and suddenly I am seeing my internet being very slow to get to pages I want and I am seeing ads flashing just before the page I requested pops up. Only by chance did I hit a key that 'froze' the page and I found the culprit - Ad In The Middle. I went looking through my C directory's system files and I find all sorts of little buggers like this little txt file that says " Can't find mmtray so you can't blast it " . I boot up my computer in Safe Mode and go into the 'HKEY' files and see all sorts of stuff in there. I try to delete the ones I 'think' are the bugs. I've done this before following some instructions I found on pchell.com that I used to remove the n-case adware and I found Gator then too. I reboot...AUGH....my main screen looks a little funny - small fonts and icons and I STILL have the 'ad in the middle' crap happening. I call my bud in a hissy fit. She says in her Southern drawl " I just love system restore. " She directs me to it. I pick a date before my son did his surfing as the date to restore my puter too. I do not lose any documents I've saved or e-mails my DSL downloaded when this restore operation is done. Voila. My 'puter is perfectly fine again and I'm a singin' in the rain........ Dale - Liz Tams Hi All - an Butch, One of the biggest causes of a slow down in computer performance is hidden Add/Spy ware that downloads to your computer when you visit a web page.
