Guest guest
Took the Excedrin migraine at 6:30am and it didn't help at all this time, thinking it may be hormonal. I can now go and lay down now that I have my littleone to bed, had to wait for that. Love lavender and lemon, will see if that will do it. Thanks Kathleen. No, I don't have any feverfew. Guest guest
Excedrine Migraine Quiet Dark And if you have a Woobey thing, either freeze it, or heat it up till you almost can't stand it. I use mine to " Burn " out the headaches. But it depends on if you're a " Hot or Cold " headachey person. Lavender and if you're not a Lavender person, try Lemon. Sniffing. Rosemary is really good too. Just sniff it straight out of the bottle (not something I ordinarily recommend but a lot of people have found that it helps. I did when I went to Tuscon last year. Butch turned me onto it). Hope that helps a little. And stay away from the computer. K Cheers! Guest guest
Hi Rahnny: If you can get your hands on some fresh or dried feverfew, it will get rid of it straight away. I use it all the time and have several plants of it growing out back on our property. I actually plan on adding more next spring. Guest guest
I agree with Paula. Also if you have a rice bag or Woobey from Kathleen heat it and lay it over your eyes. I know people say use cold but in my experience with my own killer migraines cold only makes them worse. The heat helps tremendously. If you don't have a rice bag you can make one real simply by taking a clean ( CLEAN being the operative word) and dump some rice in it, tie a knot it the end and heat it in the micro wave. I hope it goes away soon. I know only too well how debilitating they are. I found many, many references from ladies/men saying that putting heat on the eyes is a no-no. Now, this is their experience and not mine but.... they said that it damaged their eyes, but was temporary. Unfortunately, I saved none of the links. In your experience, do you find you have any cloudiness, dryness, problems... with using the heat on the eyes? For me I just decided that I would only recommend them for what I use the for ---heat (!) under my blankie! Thanks, Andrea
Guest guest
Hey Andrea " In your experience, do you find you have any cloudiness, dryness, problems... with using the heat on the eyes? " I'm not Evelyn, but I do use them in this way. I have not experienced any of these problems after using heat on me eyes and head during a headache or migraine. I've been doing this for over 10 years now. Maybe I've been lucky. And to tell you the truth... If it were only a temporary situation and it was a choice between that and letting the migraine rage... I'd take the eye problems. I hate pain. :-) K Cheers! You, Miss Woobey Queen, are the reason that I am making up another slew of them! I made them for Christmas gifts about 4 years ago and people fought over them in their households and mine! Seeing your web site brought it all back. They are wonderful gifts (to give to yourself too) and I highly recommend buying them! Nothing feels as good! Guest guest
Hey Andrea, Whoops! Sorry for getting you up to your eyeballs in the " Woobey " game again! LOL! I too am a big fan. Everytime I use one I groan at my husband, how did I EVER get along without these! LOL! Say, You said you use them for warming up your bed, if you ever want to know what else you CAN use them for, drop me an email and I'll send you my " 101 uses for a Woobey " . Actually I wrote it a couple years ago, but now I could add another 50 things at least, including reducing the pain of a gall bladder attack. Have fun with them and remind the childrens parents, if they can't find theirs, look either in the kids room or under a cat! ROFLMAO! K Cheers! Guest guest
This might sound silly, but I get Migraines lately and I found when my husband massages my upper back they go away. I have these two " knobs " as I call them, points, in between my shoulder blades and when I get stressed they get pinched, but my back won't hurt, I'll get a migraine in between my temples and my eyes and when he presses and massage them, I'm fine. Maybe that isn't a migraine, but it feels like one. There are many different places a migraine can hit, but try to have someone do your back and see if that helps. Guest guest
Andrea, No, I have never had any problem at all. If it feels too warm on my eyes directly I just turn on my side and drape it over my head till it doesn't lay directly on my eyes. When it cools a bit I put it directly on my eyes. I tried the cold, my doctor even said to use cold. Tried it and just about went through the ceiling. lol When I went back, I told him what I was doing and he said to do whatever worked for me. If I had thought standing on my head and spitting wooden nickels would helped, I'd have done that too. Guest guest
Hopefully, by now Rahnny's migraine has passed. For future reference, I'd like to say that Peppermint EO (specifically Baby Peppermint) has helped me. I use it in the aromalamp, I sniff it on a tissue, and I drink peppermint tea in copious quantities when I have migraine. It lessens the severity of the attack and seems to shorten it, as well. I think I got that tip from this very list, as a matter of fact! I've also found that a blend of Clary Sage and Sweet Marjoram on a tissue is very soothing for the migraines that result from hormonal fluctuations. And of course, the old standbys like drinking lots of water and lying very still in a dark, silent room, if you're lucky enough to have that option. I usually have to work during my attacks--can you imagine a worse place to endure a migraine than kindergarten?? Yeah, okay, maybe a lumber mill....<G> For the absolute worst headaches, when nothing helps and I truly wish I were dead rather than going through one more second of that torture, I knock myself out with half an Ambien. It works very well for me but I have to be in utter extremity before resorting to it. I'm allergic to Imitrex and I can't take NSAIDs other than aspirin or the occasional acetominophin. Of the two, aspirin is more effective for me, but only if I take it at the first tiny sign that a migraine is on the way. HTH, jaime
Guest guest
I forgot to mention that as a preventative I'm taking daily doses of feverfew pills and extra magnesium. I started that in August and have had fewer migraines since then. Almost a month ago I went to the Maori healers and I haven't suffered a migraine in that time. They realigned my spine and all my organs and performed deep tissue massage on my limbs and abdomen. Maybe there's a connection. jaime
