Guest guest
Hi Andrea, You are correct. Many women are estrogen dominant without being in perimenopause. An excess in estrogen in our diets and from the environment is causing young girls to start their periods as early as 9 and 10. PMS is estrogen dominance, and many women have this throughout their cycles. However, as a woman of 48.5 (can't forget that .5!) and with her symtpoms, I feel confident saying she is " definitely " in perimenopause. Actually, even if she were several years younger, it's safe to say she is perimenopausal. Just as young girls are getting their periods earlier, women are entering peri earlier. Menopause isn't something that happens overnight. Perimenopause (the years leading to menopause) is a long, gradual process. Some women begin it in their early 30's, and " premature menopause " is more common all the time. Regardless, balancing hormones through natural means is essential. It's actually quite easy, but takes gathering sound, reliable information and empowering yourself with knowledge. There is a HUGE amount of false information on the topic of peri/meno, that despite good intentions, can cause more harm than good. Yes, as a holistic practitioner, educating others on healthy, natural approaches to peri/meno (or anything else) can be frustrating. People have to do what is right for them, even if it means empowering their Dr. more than themselves. My goal is to provide solid, reliable information. But, each woman must make her own decisions. " Be and allow " is my mantra. What's that saying? " You can lead a horse to the stream, but you can't make them drink " . Thanks for your wise imput Andrea, Michelle http://www.holisticmenopause.com
