What the word detoxify means

Well, in the dictionary it says:

 

to remove a poison or poisonous effect from (something)

 

Now, I find it very funny that someone would be posting about the

liver (of which one of the main functions *is* to detoxify and cleanse

the blood) and say in the same post that the word detoxify is a quaint

old fashioned term that means nothing and that one who uses the term

is caught up in some beauty therapy fluff hype.
