Guest guest
Hey Kathleen, > ROFLMAO! Too darn funny! But then I've never been one much for the > PC-ness either. What was it my mother said, I think you might have > suggested it yourself once or twice... > > Something like " If people are going to be totally Politically Correct, > they can never talk to anyone for fear of saying the wrong thing " > > Sumpin like that. Yep .. that's purty much it .. and if they are politically correct all the time when they do say something we're gonna suspect they're saying the wrong thing cause we figure they ain't necessarily saying what they really believe nohow and that's boring and a waste of breath. ;-) I think most REAL Suthran wimmens can charm a dang buzzard off'n a dead limb with them sweet little voices .. fer our Yankee cousins on board whut ain't been down South a bunch I'll tell you that Suthran Mamas and Grandmamas use'ta teach them Suthran gals how to walk and how to use their hands whilst gesturing .. and how to tawk in thet kinda little gal way whut Dolly Parton is so good at doing. And around my home on the TN-KY border lots of Mamas and Grandmamas still doing that. I was home last September and eating lunch in the American Cafe one day. Gal came in from Clarksville .. bout 13 miles away .. and she asked the waitress if she could put a Kerry sign in the winder. Little waitress told her in sweet little Suthran voice she wasn't able to make decisions like that but if she would leave the sign she would ask the owner when she came in. Now that was being Politically Correct cause folks in my home town would'a stopped coming to the cafe if that sign had gone up .. and the waitress knew that. So one of the real home folks a .. Black lady name Louise been the cashier there for a hundred years or so .. put her hands on her hips and got her head moving from side to side .. and told that gal from Clarksville that she best git her butt on outta there rat now and take her sign with her and if she left it behind it was gonna go in the trash soon as she left. Now that is what I call real correct communication .. telling folks like it really is so there ain't no misunderstanding. ;-) But still .. despite the fact that some little Suthran gals done got charm and sweetness confused with Political Correctness .. with all that " Bless Your Heart " and " Honey Child " and " I Swannees " and such .. most uv'em can still charm a buzzard off'n a dead limb .. including this old buzzard. Then when they gets you down off'n that limb and gets you up afore a preacher man .. shortly thereafter you don't hear no more'a that kinda tawk less'n it be out in public and such cause they figger ain't no sense in stalking a critter whut is already in the tow sack. ;-) > TTYL > K > Cheers! > Kathleen Petrides > The Woobey Queen > The Loving Touch Therapeutic Pillow > http://www.woobeyworld.com Yep .. and y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
