Guest guest
Hi Anita.. >>>As far as I can tell everything looks good on the percentages...I've >>>heard of straight shea and olive oil soap, so that shouldn't have been the problem. Did you have a lot of " floaties " in your lye water before you added it to the oil? If your lye was bad, that is what would have happened,<<< Yes, I did, and wondered about that. Also, when I was pouring the lye out to be weighed, it was rather " staticky " , like fly-away, and clinging to the outside of the container, and flying on the counter. >>>at least that is how I knew I had bad lye one time. It may be that you >>>just had the soapin gremlin come visit...we've all had problems at one time or another with batches, even if it is the same recipe we've used 100's of times. <<< lol, yes, one of those unexplainable failures. >>>However the only time I have heard of the amonia smell is with milk, whether it be goat or cow. You did say water was what you used, didn't you?<<< I just posted about the milk protein I used, and now thinking back, the ammonia smell must have come after I added that. I was thinking it immediately smelled like ammonia, but now think I was so distracted by the immediate trace, I'm not so sure. It must have come after I added that milk product.
