Guest guest
Hey C-M, My Cholesterol has never been below 300 .. not in my entire life. Same for my mother and she died at age 84 with 120/80 blood pressure .. same as mine is now. I had a good physical in September 2003 by a Lady Doctor Professor at Haccetepe University Hospital. To get an appointment with her took a connection cause she is one of the doctors for the President of Turkey and is in popular demand by them folk whut has a lot of money. She did every test possible but a catherization .. conclusion was that my heart (health wise) was finer'n frog hair split three ways and she even said I appeared to be a warm hearted person. ;-) Better it was that it looked like the high cholesterol ain't causing me no problems except a tad of circulatory confusion in the ankles .. capillaries and such. Professor Lady told me that some folks .. like me .. would have high Cholesterol if we ate nothing but grass. She wanted me to take Lipitor but I flat refuse to take it .. never will I take it. Like some folks have mentioned on the list .. lots of good things out and about to reduce Cholesterol .. but lowering Cholesterol is not my main goal .. keeping it from going higher is. I eat lots of raw onions and raw garlic .. daily. Lots of yogurt and extra-virgin olive oil .. daily .. drink red wine .. daily. Eat fish at least twice a week and more oatmeal in a month than most horses do in a lifetime. If I didn't do all this I'm sure my Cholesterol would hit 400 in no time flat. And .. I'm not totally convinced that high Cholesterol is harmful for every person .. though I know it is for some. I expect that some day, might be after I'm under snakes, they will find some little bug causes heart disease .. like they found one that causes ulcers and such. > Brian works very hard physically, I think he get's plenty of exercise, Exercise is good .. I could fill up your hard drive with the health bennies of but a 20 minute walk daily .. 30 minutes is better. > he also works out, but has been about 20 lbs overweight since he quit > smoking. That excuse for gaining weight has more validity than some folks think. Some believe that food then becomes a substitute for smoking .. and it can .. but there are also chemical changes in the body .. lots of them. > He is a reformed alcoholic, so wine is out. Can't find it now .. but I read .. twice .. that unsweetened red grape juice provides pretty much the same bennies as red wine .. just doesn't taste as nice nor does it give you a good buzz on. ;-) > I don't think he drinks much weight. C-M As for dropping weight .. I returned from the USA on 24 September 2004 weighing more than I have weighed in my life .. I put on damn near 18 pounds in two months in the USA. My total weight was 185 pounds .. my average weight in years past was 160 pounds. On 10 October 2004 .. I vowed to lose weight without dieting .. just by changing my lifestyle and what I ate. I stopped all sweets and stopped using sugar in coffee/tea .. walked at a fast pace an hour a day .. did my watering hole two nights a week instead of the previous 4 nights and sometimes 5 nights a week. As of today I weigh a tad less than 170 .. and I'm heading on down the road to that 160 I used to weigh. Aside from walking .. and changing the amount of food I eat plus eating a little more healthy diet .. the best way I have found to lose weight is the Italian Pasta Diet .. it REALLY WORKS! 1) You walka pasta da Bakery. 2) You walka pasta da Candy Store. 3) You walka pasta da Ice Cream shop. 4) You walka pasta da Table an' da Fridge. 5) You justa walka and walka and keep ona walka ever day. And it will lower Cholesterol .. or .. keep it from going higher. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
