Guest guest
Please, if you know any expecting mamas and/or mamas being threatened with induction tell them to watch this segment. I hope I catch it. I met Marsden Wagner this spring when he accompanied Ina May to a birth circle in Takoma Park, Maryland. There is a snip of one of his lectures in a birth video from Barbara Harper. He and Michel Odent have worked so hard to protect women's health and promote birth advocacy around the world through WHO. Read an earlier post of mine to visit the web pages on cytotec's murderous history in birthcare. Is that a harsh adjective? No. I don't think so. OBs know this drug is a loose cannon and refuse to stop using it. The greatest all time answer I ever heard from an OB about the danger of induction using cytotec: " It's not dangerous when I use it. " Tell the mamas to ask their OBs and/or midwives (yes, there are some not so good ones out there) if they intend to use cytotec to induce. Tell them not to back off of their refusal of this drug. It also goes by the name of misoprostol and is made by Searle. It has a close cousin Arthrotec 50 from Pharmacia. Marsden wrote: CBS TV News has just interviewed me for a news spot they are doing on Cytotec induction. It will be aired on CBS TV Evening News with Dan Rather some evening this coming week. You will have to determine when it is aired in your area. Unfortunately, they do not yet know which night next week it will be shown. They have promised to let me know which night but my earlier experience gives me no confidence they will do so. If they let me know, I will let you know. Although the spot will be only a couple of minutes, it is a nationwide program and every little bit counts in getting the word out about Cytotec induction. Drug regulation by public education is not an elegant solution but sometimes it becomes urgently necessary. So let anyone who might be interested know about it. Cordially, Marsden Wagner Hoping this will help get the word out, not only about Cytotec but also about unnecessary inductions..
