Guest guest
In case anyone recalls my September complaint (below) and is curious... the itchy bumps kept coming, two or three new ones every day, for a month. Then I just felt like something had changed, and they stopped. There was a recurrence for one day a week later, but that was that. I've been hive-free for about seven weeks. I'm happy to say that it almost certainly had nothing to do with EOs, because I've reintroduced them all, with the exception of one specific brand of lavender I had been using (but I did reinstate my Badger Sleep Balm, which contains lavender). Nor was a change of laundry soap to blame, apparently. The bad news is I'm pretty sure it was a delayed reaction to being treated with the fluoroquinolone antibiotics Levaquin and Cipro for the first time, in July. When the hives went away, other symptoms consistent with fluoroquinolone antibiotic adverse reactions appeared. This list is perhaps not the place for any extended discussion of problems with prescription drugs, but I would like to urge everyone in the strongest possible terms not to take any of the fluoroquinolones unless your life literally depends on it. For an eye-opener on this, see: quinolones/messages The fluoroquinolone trade names that I have been able to identify are Levaquin, Ciprofloxacin, Floxin, Tequin, Avelox, Noroxin, Trovan, Penetrex, Raxar, Maxaquin, Zagam, and Factive. The widely prescribed veterinary antibiotic Baytril also belongs to this class. Guest guest
Thanks for this note. I've been having flea bites for the longest time. At least I thought they were flea bites. Then today I realized that I'M the only one being bitten by the " fleas " . MY bites/hives differ in size, from the small actual hivey looking bumps to great huge welts. They all itch the same and when I 'm not paying attention I scratch them until they bleed. AND these puppies are taking forever to leave again... I'm thinking it might be laundry liquid... they changed the recipe on that stuff. Either that or the fleas think I'm just too delicious to have a go at anyone else. ;-) Cheers! Guest guest
OK, Queeniee... Listen to Momma... Scratching your welts until they bleed is out! I know you would tell your kids that. You could get staph infections..cut your nails to the quick. My hunch is that you are a nervous wreck right now, as you have a right to be when you have children of the age that eat candles..( been there, done that No, I am not saying it's all nerves, but under stress, your skin or something reacts and it could just react to a new detergent, or anything you might have added to your laundry or even some material your body does not like... Many years ago, when I was a teenager, my grandfather bought me a red, flouncy petticoat. I thought it was the coolest thing on earth. If you are my age, you might remember them, stiff, nylon and flouncy.. But darn it, every time I wore the thing, I would break out in hives, huge ones and would sit in the tub with cool water to get those hives down. After I ditched that lovely petticoat, for years I got hives from certain nylons that seem to have a red tinge to them. When I worked at the museum, we had to paint the whole thing with adobe red paint for an exhibition , 3 times over until the director thought we had the right Adobe red and again broke out in a terrible case of red hives that took prednisone to control. From than on , I just got very careful with anything red and I love red clothes... So, be a detective and find out what goes on. Anything new in your environment? To bring down your angry skin and not to scratch , make a batch of oatmeal, with a lot of water. Drain the oatmeal through a sieve, so you have just an oatmeal juice. 'Paint' your skin with it. Take a bath in it. Slather it on. Goop it on! Than if you have some infused SJW oil with some heli, dab that on. Last not least, send the kids to camp, husband to the moon and give yourself some time to relax and enjoy the sunshine... If it is fleabites, do a radical cleaning on the animals and house.Vacuum like crazy, throw out those vacuum cleaner bags immediately outside somewhere, use the dia (sp) earth in your house to make those buggers flee and don't tear your hair out... Hugs, C-M
