Guest guest
Hi Jane, > There are three books I know of that address vegetable oils as opposed to > essential oils ... Len Price's " Carrier Oils for Aromatherapy & Massage " , Liz > Earle's " Vital Oils " and Jan Kusmirek's " Liquid Sunshine " . I think I read in > Butch's comments on Vitex something along the lines of 'regurgitated wisdom' - > but I'm sure I've quoted him wrong .... As with so much in our line of work, > there is no science or scientific research. A lot of people are re-writing > everyone else's books and articles! Go by personal experience and preference. > That's all we can do. Jane My comments (for years now) were in reference to one of the reasons that AT will remain a cottage industry .. never be validated or controlled. That reason is that we thrive on the fruit of the poison tree when it comes to information. There is a lot of misinformation, disinformation, rumor and marketing hype in AT .. folks repeat it enough and it almost becomes dogma. Folks write it enough and it becomes " reference material " even though they are doing no more than publishing unreferenced novels that quote or slightly change the misinformation in previously published unreferenced novels that ... etc. Some writers post Bibliographies and call them References. Any of us can make a laundry list of novels and call our novel a referenced novel in this industry. I starting reviewing Suzanne Catty's " Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy " and didn't make it past the first 30 pages before I got writer's cramps from listing the errors. I do accept that its easier to critic a book than it is to write one .. and I acknowledge Catty's efforts in putting together something that was missing in this industry .. and I hope she will update it some day .. or some one else will do a take off on it and do another one. I believe she asked a number of " so-called " experts for information during her research and the so-called experts simply turned to the unreferenced novels and provided that information. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
