Hi all,

A very good friend of mine just lost her 45 YO brother to suicide :( She

is having a hard time dealing with it, as is his wife & daughter. She

would like me to put together a basket of sorts, with some healing, calming

items. She really likes my sheet spray....so thought I'd do that.....but

what EO's? The first thing that came to mind is Back's Rescue

Remedy....tho I've not ever used it. Here is the rest of her email to

me......I've never heard of this type of therapy.....obviously heard of the

Reiki. I find it strange tho that the Reiki practitioner doesn't want to

treat her....even if the wounds are very fresh. I was under the impression

that Reiki can do no harm?

>>>>She went for Reiki last week but the practioner felt she needed to

recommend a neuro-hynotherapist...too many painful layers for the Reiki

master. Karen, my sister-in-law, has a Weds eve appt with

neuro-hypotheraist. I am not familiar with this alternative method, but

pray it brings Karen some relief.

>>>>>

Any other thoughts? I've already got my friend watching John......and I am

sure she recommended it to the SIL as well. Think I'll send her a link to

get a couple of his books.

Thanks guys :)

Hi Chris,

Very sorry to hear about your friend and her family.

In addition to any number of wonderful oils that would give them some relief,

flower essence would also be an excellent idea. My source for the essence is

called " Flower Essence Repertory " . Most any health food store will have a copy,

look up the symptoms i.e. brokenheartedness or deprression and despair, and

there will be a list of essences that are recommended.

My guess about the Reiki master is that it is her own stuff getting in the way.

I've been a Reiki Master for a very long time and Reiki is very calming during

times of grief and despair. And if its OK with you I'd like to send her Reiki

from a distance.

Hello Chris,

So sorry to hear of your friends. They are fortunate to have your

loving support.

Like Rita, I don't get the decision made by the Reiki practitioner.

Of course, I don't know the details, but as a long time

Hypnotherapist, I would recommend some emotional balance before

going into what can be very deep emotional work. This isn't yet the

time for Hypnotherapy. But, that's just me and my humble opinion.

Reiki would be extremely helpful right now.

Bach Flower Remedies would be excellent. Rescue Remedy is a good

place to start. Wild Rose will help with depression and Walnut would

also be good now, to help with the change and release the past. As

healing evolves, there will be others that will be of great support.

The flower remedies are so wonderful for emotional and spiritual

healing. Quick, and very effective.

I would highly encourage Reiki healing from afar, and tapping into

the power of prayer from which I've seen miracles. If inspired, the

Unity prayer line is 1-816-969-2000.

In heart,

Michelle

Hi Chris,

That is so sad! My heart goes out to your friend and the rest of the

family affected by such a tragic loss.

The flower essences sounds like a really good idea. Also, not the same

situation as far as the manner of death, but after 9-11 I sent a few

gift baskets that contained a variety of rose products to loved ones who

lost ones . Rose is known to help sooth a grieving heart and aid in

recovering from such traumatic losses. A good friend of mine passed last

year and her family (who also are good friends of mine) find John Edward

to be very comforting. They've even gone to see him live. Here is his

web site

http://www.johnedward.net/

More than anything, being there for them is the most important gift of

all.

*Hugs*

Hi Chris,

I know this is old, but I just wanted to share that I've been through

a suicide and it's rough, especially when you have been close to the

person. My daughter's pediatrician committed suicide back in 1998

and I saw him spiraling out of control, and I did what I could to

help him, but the worst part of it is the guilt you feel that you

could have done more and that's part of the healing process along

with the grief you feel over losing them. Just realizing that there

is nothing you could have done to save them especially if you made

yourself available to them and did your best. At least that's my

experience.

I have used the Bach Flower Rescue Remedy and it works somewhat, I've

used it for times of extreme stress, but not by itself. The sheet

spray is a good idea to help her sleep maybe even a dream pillow.

But you have to be careful that she doesn't imprint certain scents to

the death. I hope that makes sense. For instance, I had some new

music I had just bought right before I found out about his suicide

and I was playing one of them when I called his office to bring my

daughter in when I heard the recording that he had died. For some

reason, I cannot play those CDs anymore because they take me back to

that mood from when he died. Strange. I didn't know something like

that could happen. Just be careful what you give to her and if you

do, just make it simple blend that you make specifically for her in

this time. Chances are, she might not do it, but just a thought.

I am first degree Reiki and I haven't heard of not being able to

treat someone, but she may have a point and I am inclined to agree

that the family should see an NLP practitioner to help them process

their feelings. I have done NLP and it is very powerful and

healing. It is best if they do not bog themselves down with two many

therapies and stick to the one at the moment.

Mourning is a process, even moreso with suicide, just relating my own

experience. It's a walk through the darkness, but somehow you manage

to come out on the other side.

Hugs to you and your friend,

Michele is right, music is a powerful connector to our memories and

'nerves'..

We buried my son to the tune of ' Imagine' by John Lennon and whenever

I hear that music , I stand still and fall apart, quietly for just a

split moment. He so much wanted Peace in this world and was afraid to

grow up to become cannon fodder..

I think scent and music can pull things from our memory deep down and

are very influential in our lives.

Give me some woodsy scents and some Haydn or Mozart, Paul Simon and I

will be ready for anything.

Give me some floral scent and heavy metal and I just might feel totally

out of whack, ready to hit something, someone...

BUT that's ME, someone else might react just the opposite.

Speaking of that, I have an interesting story about sandalwood. The

first time I smelled it I was in Eureka Springs, Arkansas at this

little oil shop, like 1980. It was the first oil I ever bought, and

now every time I smell sandalwood, I still remember back to that trip

because I was with my school. It was a perfume not the EO, but so

far I haven't smelled a perfume sandalwood that good.
