My daughter lives in Scarborough -- so I've been sending her the conversation

about the tax issue there. She has several small home based business, including

cookies and Longaberger baskets. She also is a speech pathologist and sees

clients in her home, but that falls under a different area. As you will read she

thinks the cookies fall under a different classification too. -- wonder if bath

products, oils etc might??

For food gift items - or however my product is classified (I can't remember the

exact term) - there is no sales tax charged. so I don't' think this affects me

at all.

Re: DBA

Here in Maine this year they did away with the permanent sales tax business

permit.

They are now renewing it anually based on if you are selling $10,000 per

year.

If you are not making that much in your small business, you are not issued a

sales permit for the year.

Talk about crunching out alot of small at home businesses.

Thanks,

Fran
