Guest guest
Rita sent a very kind message of support the other day posted here. I responded to her privately as it made me catch my breath and stop and feel so much. But now, after a few days of pondering, I wanted to say something to everyone here - the old timers who I've known for nigh on two years now and the new folks too. I thought back to where my life was just before I joined this group. Without getting into too many specifics I can say that without a doubt I was somewhere very different from where I am today. Then I'd only been teaching natural childbirth for two years and attending births for about six months. Then my health was at an all time low. Then my kids were in public school and happy (truth be told - long as they are with a mom and dad that love them not much else can crash their world). Then I was in the hustle and bustle of a city that I love but really missing the countryside I'd grown up with. Today I am extremely more knowledgeable about health because I've tried other routes instead of just listening to a doctor. Today I've attended enough births to know that no number of years and training can prepare you for the awe of each individual birth and yet you will still feel that you are capable but only by the grace of the spirit. Today I am back in the country but it's not the same - sorry folks but this town in CT is just not the kind and warm small town I grew up in doubt any town ever will be but Dandridge TN came pretty darn close - but you can't beat the flora and fauna and for that I am grateful. Today my children are still happy, the joy of my life and I homeschool. I homeschool because I believe in myself. I believe in myself because I found support and many lessons here. It wasn't just words of encouragement specifically for me. It's also in the words of encouragement for anyone and everyone trying something new. No one is afraid to say they goofed with their experiment and someone always has a word about how to make it better. No one is afraid to speak up with new insights and no one is afraid of a positive discussion and very few are afraid of the spirited discussions!! So, Rita your words specifically for me were a gift. You made me take a good look at myself and count the blessings in my life. Thank you for that. We don't stop to do that often enough. This list is among the blessings. Thank you list mama Chris and your nemesis' Butch and Kathleen. Thank you everyone who has made their way here. I could start with Neysa, Janet, Effie, Christa-Maria and Martin and then get lost and meandering on many threads!!! Thank you everyone for being here and for taking the time to read through this post. Hope you all stop and count your blessings today too. Warmly, Dale
