Guest guest
Chris, I am not all that used to AT bottle size, just how big is this bottle? Pretty small right? Absolute has a high water content and is therefore easy to spoil, right? How long will this keep? Guest guest
Hi Christina, Yes, its a rather small bottle - the size bottle is the typical little amber bottle that is about the size of a lady's pinky ... It is no doubt one of those pricy and precious oils. But it smells SO good! I LOVE Rose Otto, but Rose Absolute smells even more like a real rose! It is highly prized in perfumery I personally believe they are both a must have in the collection, each with their own place and purpose, but that is just me - and I am a rose hoarding maniac *lol* Absolutes shouldn't have a high water content. To make rose absolute the flowers are placed into a sealed chamber where they are soaked in a solvent bath which dissolves the plant material - including the essential oils, fatty acids and the waxy parts of the plant matter. Then the solvent is vacuum distilled off and what remains is called a concrete. Then that concrete has pure alcohol added to it which dissolves the aromatic material, while the non alcohol soluble material (the fatty acids and waxes) will separate out and can then be filtered easily. After that the alcohol is evaporated or vacuum distilled away and what is left is the final product known as rose absolute. It has a long shelf life if stored properly. I have some rose absolute here that I've had for a couple years and it is still quite wonderful. As with any volatile oil oxidation is its worst enemy, so one would want to keep it stored with care like they would with any EO. It is very concentrated and should be used well diluted. This 3 ml bottle will make 30 ml of Rose Absolute 10% and that is a LOT of Rose Oil to play with. *Smile* Chris (list mom) Turkish Rose Absolute Co-op One Week Only ~ Don't Miss Out! http://www.alittleolfactory.com Christina, L.Ac.
