Dear Butch,

As a Texan I have enjoyed your letter from our governor, Mr. Rick

Perry, to all to get out and VOTE TODAY! I already have been to the polls

and cast my vote early this morning. My husband went at 7 AM and had to wait

45 minutes because of the turnout. I went at 9 AM and they had divided the

line up alphabetically and I only had to wait 25 minutes instead of an hour.

If this is any indication of the turnout across the nation, then it means

that somewhere, somehow people have gotten the message - if you don't vote

then you don't have a say in how things are run. I was number 164 and the

line was still going out the door when I left and it is cold and rainy here

in the Dallas/Fort Worth area so I am glad to people still getting out there

to vote.

Remember people - Get out there and VOTE!

Butch, I would love to have you move here and become a part of our

great state.

Hey y'all,

Butch Owen has told me he is looking for a place to retire. Being as he

is a Good Ol Flag Waving, Hell Raising, Gun Totin', Patriotic Suthran

Boy to begin with, I have invited him down to Texas. He tells me he is

starting to pack now cause he has a feeling that Americans are about to

make the biggest mistake they have made since they pulled out of 'Nam.

We Texans love y'all .. love most honest folks, but we'll have to take

action if Kerry wins over Bush today. We'll miss you too. Texas has

given all those complainers plenty of time to get used to the results of

the last election. After seeing the whiners along the campaign route,

lots of the folks in Texas have contacted me and I am now considering

taking action on their requests before they start taking matters into

their own hands. I am a politician and must serve my people.

Here is what will happen:

#1: If John Kerry becomes President of the United States of America,

Texas will immediately secede from the Union.

#2: George W. Bush will become the President of the Republic of Texas.

So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic?

1. NASA is just south of Houston. We will control the Space Industry.

2. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States.

3. Defense Industry .. we have over 65% of it. The term " Don't Mess

With Texas, " will take on a whole new meaning.

4. Oil .. we can supply all the oil the Republic of Texas will need for

the next 300 years. Yankee states? Sorry about that.

5. Natural Gas .. again we have all we need and it's too bad about those

Northern states. John Kerry will figure out a way to keep them warm.

6. Computer Industry .. we currently lead the nation in producing

computer chips and communications - small places like Texas Instruments,

Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel,

AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Semiconductor, Dallas Semiconductor,

Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc., etc. The list goes on and on.

7. Medical Care .. no need for Social Medicine. We have the largest

research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top

trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. Heck,

just in Dallas we have some of the best hospitals in the United States.

8. Education .. we have enough colleges to keep us going: University of

Texas, Texas A & M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston, Baylor,

UNT (University of North Texas), Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy

grows better in the South anyway

9. Labor .. we have a ready supply of workers. We could just open the

border when we need some more.

10. Manufacturing .. we have essential control of the paper industry,

plastics, insurance, etc.

11. Defense .. in case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National

Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don't have a Texas Army, but

since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we

can raise an Army in 12 hours if we need one. If the situation really

gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask

them to send over Chuck Norris and a couple of Texas Rangers.

12. Food .. we are totally self sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and

several types of grain, fruit and vegetables .. and let's not forget

seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them

so that they taste good. Don't need any food from anywhere else.

The above list is but a few of the items that will keep the Republic of

Texas in good shape. There isn't a thing out there that we need and

don't have.

Now to the rest of the United States under President Kerry:

Since y'all won't have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only

President Kerry will be able to drive around in his big 8 mpg SUV. The

rest of folks in the United States will have to walk or ride bikes.

You won't have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off

satellite communications.

You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes, but since Mr. Kerry

has predicted global warming, y'all won't need the gas anyway.

Signed, The Governor of Texas .. for The People of Texas

P.S. This is not a threatening letter .. its just a note to give you

something to think about...BEFORE YOU VOTE TODAY. And you should vote

today .. regardless of who you support .. you should vote today. Its

not just a privilege .. its an obligation that resulted from the

spilling of a lot of blood .. and now we consider it a natural right.

If things turn out wrong .. those of you who are willing to learn to

speak proper Suthran English and who will agree to Bear Arms against all

enemies of the Republic of Texas .. foreign or domestic .. and agree to

fight any attempts to create a Socialist government in the Republic of

Texas, will be welcome to submit your application for immigration.

Oh yea .. one more thing. I told Butch to bring his Essential Oil

company, Appalachian Valley Natural Products, down to Texas and we will

set him up with space in a good area .. and he can rename it Rio Grande

Valley Natural Products. Of course, his customers outside the Republic

of Texas will then have to pay Texas Excise Taxes on any orders they

make .. but its all for a good cause. :-)
