Hello All....I have been reading/learning a lot from the posts. Thanks!

I have finally gotten brave enough to begin making some basic melt and

pour soap bars with boughten scents. I figured it was a start and it

really was a lot of fun.

Now, I have a couple questions....it is possible to use your own herbal

infusions in melt & pour soap? Also, all those great scents (oils) out

there that say 'not' to place on skin and such....can they safely be

used if placed in a soap base? I was just curious if that basically

meant not to place them directly from the bottle onto your skin....I

would appreciate any input...

Missty,

I have only done a few batches of M & P soaps, so I can't answer too much

about them....I know that you cannot add alot to the Melt and Pour soap, as

it will not harden up enough to be used.

If you are talking about an oil infusion, then yes, you can add a minute

amount to the soap, and it should still work. I mean like only a couple of

tablespoons maximum added to 1 lb of soap base.

About the fragrances....if these are the 'potpourri' type oils you are

talking about....NO, they cannot be used on the skin.... You might could

use them if you don't have sensitive skin, but I wouldn't chance it.

If there is a Hobby Lobby or Michaels close to you, they sell small bottles

of soap and toiletry safe fragrances for use in M & P soap and lotions and

such. Do NOT get candle fragrances to use from either of these

stores....they are not made for soaps and stuff.

Also, check around online. You will find much better prices, for better

fragrances. And you can use most of them for soaps, lotions and candles.

:) Oh, and don't forget essential oils! They are heavenly in soaps! There

are several folks here that sell EO's and FO's..... Perhaps they will have

some more information for you!

HTH a bit,

Candy
