Guest guest
Certainly, a few times a day, take some " coffee break " time to get up and stretch ... that'll do some MAJOR good! Aside from that what comes to my mind are soaking in a nice mineral salt bath whenever possible (obviously not at work, but when you get home *lol*), and didn't someone post here some time ago that they use Black Pepper oil (Piper nigrum) in a blend for joint pain? And cayenne (capsicum) ... ? Kathleen, was it you? Now, I have to say this - Although it is commonly used in " muscle ache " and " arthritis " blends I'd not use Wintergreen or Birch oils on a regular basis, if at all even, as the main chemical constituent in them, methyl salicylate, gets absorbed by the skin and can cause health problems (its not nice to the liver). It is toxic dermally and also has a very low Oral Lethal Dose (a child can die from ingesting only 8 ml of it). *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Afolia Ben [chkben] Hi friends, Does anyone know of an effective blend of EOs that will help with the symptoms of Arthritis / Joint Pain / Stiffness pains in the wrists and knee joins? Guest guest
For arthritis/joint pain, I make me mother a bottle of Oil containing the following: Black Pepper, Juniper oil, heli and rosemary. Works a treat and if it's REALLY bad... She slaps a hot Woobey to get the heat in there fast. (Woobeys: hot microwavable pillow pack,) alternating heat and cold helps too. And nope, t'wasn't me Chris (on the cayenne but yep on the black pepper) Cheers! Guest guest
I just thought I'd add that I find Roman Chamomile a great pain/inflammation reliever for arthritis. Also, Sweet Marjoram. One that's meant to be the best but I've not tried personally is Turmeric. I think you can also make a paste with the ground spice. Very warming, I would imagine. Otherwise - taking a stroll (even if only around the house!) every hour, gentle stretching (yoga?) .... you must do something other than sit in the same position for 12 hours! Guest guest
I don't know about working with EO's for joint pain, but being an arthritus sufferer, my pain level in my " car wreck ripped out knee " took a severe turn for the worse this past april. Since it's been 10 years since my accident, what is now happening is that my joint is degrading and now I am entering into " another phase " , albiet not a good one. So, I am trying to lose weight, exercise in more gentle ways, like swimming, which has helped my flexablity and with stretching. I have had some accupunture too, which has helped a bit. I really would recommend you looking into an oral herbal supplement designed to help joint pain. It was recommended by Dr Weil in Prevention magazine. It's called Zyflamend, and it's made by New Chapter. The company grows their own herbs organically for this formula. Take it at least a for a couple of months along with Glucosamine Chondrotian with MSM. Then see how you feel. If you feel better, than keep taking it. This has helped me get off the daily OTC naproxin - which I am concerned about taking too much of. Now I only take it on really bad days. I still have pain and discomfort, but not as extreme. I am doing better, and even if only a bit better, it's still better and I'm grateful for it. HTH, ~Suzanne
